Bit early, but I havn't started a thread for awhile :thumbsu:

Next week all depends on injuries.

IN: Ottens, Rooke
OUT: West, Tenace

would like to fit Prismall in, but Rooke will get a game in front of him, while Byrnes will keep his place.

Out: Byrnes (please please please), West and Tenance.

In: Prismall, Ottens, Rooke.

I know that is laking leg speed but i wanted t put my foot through the television last night with midget boy and Tenace on the field.

I almost don't know why we bother with these threads. Everyone (myself included) let personal prejudices get in the way of seeing things the way the club sees them. Almost...

If Ottens is fit, obviously West goes out.

If Rooke is fit (does anyone know if he is playing in the VFL practice match tomorrow?) he's a chance and Tenace is probably closest to the door (although I thought that he was fine last night apart from two ugly mistakes).

I don't think that Byrnes will be dropped. If he hasn't by now after putting in many performances like last night, I don't see why he will be now. As frustrating as I find it...

imagine if he manages to give away a 50m penalty each game...will better his goal per game average.

Ottens and Rooke in if fit, Hunt out if not fit and i would think maybe Tenace, perhaps Gamble will be left out.

You wouldn't think they'd drop Gamble after yesterday's effort. Tenace most likely out for Rooke if he is fit.

For replacement of Hunt if he doesn't pull up, you'd think DJ might be in with a chance.

Otto in for sure for West. I'd like to bring in Pris for Byrnes, with Gamble going up the ground to sit in Byrnes spot on the wing.

Performances like last night? He wasn't terrible last night and has had a good pre-season. Why should he be dropped? Yes, he had a brain fade and gave away a 50 metre penalty but the rest of his game was not as bad as you make it out to be.

I wouldnt even say he had a brain fade, he couldnt just stand by and watch Warren mark uncontested. I thought he had to do what he did, ya win some ya lose some but he had to commit himself and take the chance.

Anyway,

In-Otto, Prismall

Out-West, Tenace

No point playing Rooke in the seniiors until he is right to go.

I didn't say he was terrible. I was saying that he has played many games like last night and not been dropped, so he is unlikely to be dropped now.

Exactly. Rooke will not come straight into the seniors. He hasn't even resumed full training yet and needs more match time in the 2's before having any impact in the seniors.. Rooke hasn't shown enough since returning from injury last year to warrant a permanent seniors spot, even at full fitness..

he is a hard body, and was awesome in the gf

as for blake he has done what

Interesting to see how the magoos go tomorrow. See if there are any stand outs. I'd say Otto for West would be the only change. Byrnes & Tenace are obviously next in the gun but against the Dons, who showed over the preseason that they were prepared to run at all costs, we won't want to be losing any leg speed. If Varcoe has a blinder tomorrow then he'd be considered but otherwise just the one change for me.

I know you didn't say he was terrible, but why should he be dropped after an average game, especially one where he was clearly not alone?

he is piss poor
he and blake should be traded, like street and no major loss

byrnes can't play, and neither can blake

spot on mate. Think thats what we will see

Dear oh dear.

I'll attempt to permeate the Shannon-love...

He would never be in my team to start with. I'm not satisfied of his value to the team over other players who are given nowhere near the same opportunities. His performance last night did nothing to change that view one way or the other. I thought it was a standard Byrnes performance.

What I am attempting to do is to look at it from the perspective of the selectors. They obviously see something that I (and many others for that matter) don't. So THE SELECTORS, having selected Byrnes numerous times after he's played games like last night (and worse), would be unlikely to see fit to drop him after another such similar game.

Regarding Hunts ankle..
He has 10 days to recover dont forget. He will be eased in to training early in the week, but he should be fine.

Agree with JUBJUB regarding Rooke. Didnt realise he was that far behind the group with match practice. Davvers or Prismall in for Tenace in that case/

I'll start listening when you start giving me evidence.
How is this evidence for you...

- In todays game, you need to be able to kick with both feet. Byrnes has only his left, and it is so evident, that opponents stick to his left side knowing he cannot kick on his right.

- His decision making. Skill and quick movement is our game plan. Byrnes does not have the skills, nor the quick decision making skills to link up with our midfield through the corridor. Thus he sticks to the wings, and gets stuck on the above mentioned left foot, while more often than not his kicks can not pick out another Geelong player cleanly.

- His defensive skills. Probably the only thing going for him. He can run and chase, but he commits to hard at times and opponents can easily side step him.

- As a small forward: Does not have the ground skills to be a quality small forward like Stokes. I am using Stokes as an example as they are the same height.

- As a midfielder: Does not have the tank, the skills or the brain to be a good footballer.

Players should be able to get away with one of four major flaws (Both feet, Ground ball skill, Marking, decision making), but players will not get away with two or three of them. Like Shannon.

You may think he is hot, but that does not translate to football skills.
