The way i see it, if we want to keep up the structure with the backup ruck...then Max Lynch should get named. Cameron is not offering anything as either a ruck or forward at the moment.

Otherewise, we bring in Ruscoe who has shown an ability to sneak a goal, and let Cox play 10% backup.

I think it depends on Grundy and his fitness. He is clearly looking spent, so I'm not against providing him decent backup. In which case, I'd like to see Lynch get a crack. I've seen him contest well as a forward in scratch match highlights, and he is a good tap ruck as well who moves beautifully for a big man. He always ranks high in the time trials.

But if Grundy is feeling fit, then he has a bye coming up the week after, so would happily play Ruscoe instead. Or even just go smaller and give Broomhead another crack, or even Bianco.

Bring Ruscoe back in, you know, the 192cm forward who kicked more goals than anyone else in the team in the past month before somehow being dropped. You reckon teams will just let him run free and pay him no respect?
Like, legit, I can’t remember Cameron even once making a marking contest inside 50 this week. The only thing he was useful for was giving Grundy an extended break in the 3rd, aside from that he was as useless as **** on a bull. He absolutely wouldn’t draw any more attention from defenders than Ruscoe would.
I can’t see why we would play Cameron simply to give Grundy a rest. Doesn’t make any sense to me. I’d rather play ruscoe and for 5min let cox ruck. Playing a player with no impact on the game to simply rest the number 1 ruckmen is 🤷‍♂️
Leaving checkers as the tall for 5min is better than playing one man down each game

I also agree, I find the Ruscoe dropping a bit weird. But can see why they’ve gone that way.
The difference is that DC is 205 not 192. So in Ruscoe’s case, teams can manage with a guy giving up height to play on him, whereas DC you simply cannot get away with playing a 185-190 guy on him, you have to respect him with a KPD. Which means Checkers forces a gun KPD away from Cox OR he ends up with a third floating type who will give him plenty of space.

And we all say we’re happy with Cox rucking for 10-15 mins a game but then we crack the shits when we’re forced to bomb long and it’s Checkers vs three defenders. You can’t sit on both sides of the fence.

Play lynch then. Bring the kid in!

Play lynch then. Bring the kid in!

Yeah I don’t mind it. It’s now or never really with him.
I don’t think Lynch is the answer nor will he ever be but would be nice to see a new face and someone who will show instant intensity and attack on the footy.
I think the genuine concern with Lynch and why Cameron has been playing is Lynch’s poor aerial ability. Lynch as a ruck would be better but that’s not what his role in the team would be. However DC not doing any better anyway, so yeah, why not.

I’d be happy to see Lynch in as a relieving ruck if his job was to run up and down the wings taking relieving marks. I reckon he would have the capacity to blow up his opponent that Cameron wouldn’t.

Id nearly be with you on this but our bye falls in line perfectly with the end of the condensed fixturing and the restart of the traditional fixturing.
So from the Brisbane game to our next game we have 10 days rest which is nearly 2 weeks. That’s plenty of time off. If we had the bye fall in between 2 condensed rounds then the week off would only result in possibly 5/6 days rest but this way works better for us. Everyone will play.
I don’t want to be right, I hope you are spot on and everything works out well. Here’s to hoping I’m well off the mark!

To get them fit to the bye...or maybe play them for a half game I don’t know. Which just can’t afford to turn up to finals with anymore injuries, if we get anymore we may as well not play...

I don't think you want players not playing for a period of 2 weeks. Players like continuity, so l think you don't want to be resting players just before a bye.

Depends if they’ve been carrying an injury or not, I’m certain Grundy is still carrying a knee injury from early on in the season...just isn’t moving as freely.

Also this season is an anomaly.

Warming to the prospect of a Lynch debut. Cox looks best when playing as a genuine key forward, which subsequently helps the forward line function much better as a unit. 3 talls is a good way to do this, pity Kelly and Reid are injured. Unfortunately Cameron was atrocious against Carlton and just doesn't seem to have any forward craft at all. While Max Lynch would be the next big man up you'd imagine.
He is next in line, but does he have known form from the scratch matches? Didn't see much of him in the highlight videos of the competition, but I'm not sure how much they can be relied on to assess fringe players.

Why would you question Phillips courage? He always puts his head over the ball. His disposal is an issue but his toughness should be unquestioned.

You must watch him differently to me.

Personally I reckon he is always trying to avoid body contact and ends up getting himself twisted in knots reaching for the ball.

Invariably tripping over or going to ground in the process.

Outs - Cameron, C. Brown, Mayne

Ins - Ruscoe, Geenwood, Bianco

WHE should be out but we dont have any better alternatives. Hes only a threat in the air and should play in the forward line only. Would play Langdo too n but don't think hes ready!

Agreed he is soft as butter. If we didnt have injuries and our side wasnt a revolving door he would be a definite out for me. Offers very little, doesnt even get much of the ball these days.

Stiff on Cal Brown. He was miles better than WHE

De Goey still needs to have a pin removed from his finger so a little bit to go yet.
