So far this season ive read in these upcoming changes thread

- Drop Pendles hes too slow and games past him ( this is not in reply to the sarcastic posts in this thread but two weeks prior where a poster was adamant he was done and was time to play someone else)
- Drop Langdon , too dumb and slow
- Drop Stephenson , he has second year blues and looks cocky , needs to find form in 2s before coming back
- Cox to VFL , offers nothing If ball goes to ground (Hoping this poster saw his run after Saad on Thursday)
- Drop Mayne he has curly hair

Im all for making players earn their spots and not gifting games. But you dont just drop players who are entrenched in the 22 on the back of one bad play or a bad game or two. Our depth is pretty reasonable but im pretty confident we dont have a pendles replacement running around in the 2s

I think we need to drop Moore because of his dicky hair colouring .. :P

There's another poster who for the last 3 weeks has called for Maynard to be dropped.

Seriously, WTF?

No Robbie Gray makes this Friday very interesting.

Such a change from last season where WE were the team with big outs and last minute outs before every game. Now it seems to be happening the other way.

Not that I'm complaining. About f**king time we got a good run at it.

Seems the only change will be Elliott in for Brown. Again, I'd go further and go Quaynor for Langdon and Appleby for Greenwood at this stage. Give our defense and real nice variety of sizes and pace.

Langers dropped based on what?

Thomas is limited and age wise past his prime, it would have been prudent to balance the list better, right now another small forward means dick, a fast playmaker off half back however with Murray almost certainly gone and Q needing development would have been ideal.

27years old is past his prime?

I’m not using that handball alone as justification.

It’s a body of work he’s put in as to why I’d drop him. But I’m already aware it’s never going to happen.

So it ultimately doesn’t matter.

Yes, opinions are like arseholes but you need to realise you're way off the mark with Langdon. He's become a very good defender.

Einstein wrote his 5 miracle papers before the age of 26, he was also a wonderful athlete, ok that last bit is a lie but from the age of 27 the body starts overproducing keratin causing fibrous scarring of cells affecting mental abilities, physical strength, flexibility and speed, it's why most athletes are done by 30.

Must admit.. wasn't sure about Roughead.. but he's done the job.

They've done very well considering Gubby destroyed the list. Imagine any of D Smith/Shiel/Saad instead of Mayne and Wells? Not sure if it cost us Lynch as well but I'm sure it didn't help.

Sorry to all of you but he's still just too dumb and slow for me. I just can't get on board with him.

That handball to Moore 30cm away from him and with 2 Bombers plays right on him was just....ugh. I can't deal with that shit. I can't.

On this.

Admittedly I haven’t seen this on replay, only live at the game.

But my recollection is there were four players all within a metre or so of each other. Langdon didn’t have a lot of choice.

1. Try and clear the ball by hand or foot and almost certainly create a loose ball and an essendon goal
2. Try and run off with the ball and almost certainly be tackled and give away a goal.
3. Handball to Moore and at least force a ball up if he is tackled without prior opportunity.

Choice 3 was the wisest, albeit it wasn’t the prettiest piece of football I have seen. From memory Essendon didn’t score from that.

I reckon he’d be close to first picked... top 5 probably.
Mr mop up has been holding that defence together for over a year now, sometimes with only the likes of Oxley Madgen and co for help, he's a rippa!

The way Reid been playing he has to come in! Rest Cox. Well's smarts and delivery into fwd line is what we are missing. Swap his 4-5 goal involvements for Greenwood's 3 steps fwd for two back style input any day.

I read a lot of the “Out: Greenwood” comments before watching the game for the first time on replay. I kept a lookout for the inevitable howlers and clangers ...

... but they never came.

I did notice a series of sublime passes in the backline where he kicked the ball perfectly to advantage, one very high profile crunching tackle, and another occasion where he left his man to neutralise a contest and force the ball out of bounds. I didn’t notice him do a thing wrong.

I’m certainly not claiming he was BOG ...

... but can somebody explain why they judged his game so poorly to be dropped?

Greenwood didn't create direct turnovers but he did put players under pressure or stall momentum with his decision making. One forward hand pass at half back to a player on the 50, who got tackled, comes to mind. Another where he went back from half back instead of forward when we had options. I'd need to rewatch to see if those mistakes were bad on balance. I do reckon that's about as good as you'll get from Greenwoods field kicking, not the norm. We do know that Aish has had his own issues with field kicking and decision making so it'll be interesting how the selectors go.

I love Varcoe but doesn't do enough, terrible in the air.

Bring in Daicos to play his role.

No Chance Daicos comes in. He was close IF not the WOG in the VFL

I thought he was solid and attacked the ball well. I do think he’ll be overlooked though, since the coaches clearly consider him fringe.
