Regardless of his selection and match day shenanigans.

Beveridges inherent weirdness is why I can never quit him.

I hope we get to see arty west and Cody play a ton of footy together, that’s a seriously exciting trio of smalls
Throw in El Souki and if they can all get some continuity all of a sudden one of our biggest weaknesses has become our biggest strength, exciting in an era of football that the small forward has become one of the most important positions on the ground.

That group has it all, a known ability to hit the scoreboard accurately, strong contest players and overhead weapons in Cody & West, who still pressure & tackle. Mixed with the flair, speed and creativity at ground level of Arty and El Souki who can also get very high up the ground and link up or burn the oppo back toward goal

It’s a pretty ridiculous set of weapons, with Naughty, Darcy and Croft controlling the air… sheesh

It’s an absolute wild forward line with also a midfield of Bont, Butters, Richards, Sanders, Freijah & Kennedy feeding it. We would have to be flag favourites next year on that alone.

Defence and wings will be the biggest concerns going forward.

Defence and wings will be the biggest concerns going forward.
Wings isn’t too bad with Williams a gun and then likely a rotation on the other wing. Going to need the likes of AJ, Freijah, Jaques, Dale rotating through.

Push Bont to half back, and bring in one anchor key defender to free everyone else up and the defence looks good too

FB: Sellwood, Butts, Budarick
HB: Dale, JOD, Bont

C: Jaques, Sanders, Williams
R: English, Butters, Richards

HF: Arty, Naughty, Croft
FF: Cody, Darcy, West

Freijah, Kennedy, El Souki, Buss, Lobb or May

****ing ridiculous line up if we can pull it off

I would have Lobb as 3rd tall in back line ( intercepting role ), Bont forward and May on bench. I’m praying for butts to come to the dogs ( as in the player ) nothing else.

Flea straight in after that long out is insane. I suspect the coaching group are keen to have him up and about approaching the pointy end, hence the “early” inclusion.

Looking forward to seeing the Flea/Arty combo at work. When’s the last time we had two dynamic small/medium forwards in the one team? Can’t recall ever in my time following the club.

Edit: Forgot Westy can be included with those two. When all up and about, they’ll be a handful for any back 6.

Weightman is a very good player but not that good. I simply can't believe he's not getting some match fitness up in the twos after such a long lay-off.

He clearly aggravated his foot injury last week, very very very unlikely to play this week.
Huge shame for him as this will be his 4th game missed this year, he could have been a fair way in front for the Coleman medal.

Gunston could have kicked 10 and still would've been only 2nd most influential against us after Newcombe. If the bloke could just chill the **** out for once that would be nice

??

He kicked over 30 goals in two seasons & 27 in his last, he kicks multiple goals in plenty of games . He's had bags of five and six. He's head and shoulders above any of our lesser lights players who play a forward role. We forget how good he was .

I'm not saying this to have a go at Cody because he is a very good player, but lots of his bags have been downhill skiing, dominant midfield straight out of the middle against a bottom team type hauls.

To be clear that's not a bad thing - he's still obviously a best 18 performer against other top teams, and obviously every player plays better against weak teams to some extent. But his perfoances are even more proportionate to weaker teams compared to an average goalkicking forward.

We are likely to have 7 changes from the round 5 team against the hawks.

Outs

Darcy, Wiliams, Dolan, Baker, Emmett, Gallagher, Davidson and possibly if Hynes makes way for Cody

ins

English, Jones, McNeill, Cody, Coffield/Busslinger, Treloar, Lewis

Not sure how much stronger we are however I think we are stronger

Darcy and Williams are losses Tim and Arty are plusses.

McNeill, Cody, Coffield/Busslinger, Treloar, Lewis are better than Dolan, Baker, Emmett, Gallagher, Davidson

Plus Red was playing injured.

To give a picture both ways:

In - Day, Nairn, BMacDonald
Out - Gunston, Perez, Butler

Gunston not confirmed yet but doubt he’s risked.

Hardwick will play the Gunston role deep forward most likely unless they keep him back and bring in another tall, unlikely.

B: Sicily - Barrass - BMacDonald
HB: Impey - Battle - Amon
C: Ginnivan - Day - D’Ambrosio
FOL: Reeves - Newcombe - Ward
HF: Moore - Lewis - MacDonald
F: Watson - Chol - Hardwick
INT: Nairn - Mackenzie - Nash - Weddle - Meek

From Hawthorns last week side:
In - Nash, Barrass
Out - Gunston, Perez
