A disappointing result and another forced change through injury. There weren't a lot of players who won their position but most players put in solid efforts, just didn't have the polish.

Saints have started well against the Suns. Will need to be cleaner than we were today to get up.

OUT: Sinclair (injured), Fasolo, Varcoe
IN: Freeman, Witts, Kennedy (if available)

Elliott to play forward more in lieu of Fasolo. Freeman to add some grunt and run to our midfield. I think we have to see how the Grundy-Witts team works together and it will add the extra tall forward target.

I think we need to punish a rather lazy effort from Varcoe tonight and give Kennedy a crack; he'll provide another midfield rotation also.

One more week for Reid and I don't want to see Moore yet with that light frame. No need to rush him. I'd love to see Karnezis but it seems he didn't earn a call up.

Is Freeman ready? Missed all of last year and no experience at AFL level. Surely the club will want him to play a few real games of VFL, not the practice matches, before he can be considered for selection.

Witts straight in please. I recall with fondness the games we won last year with both Witts and Grundy in the side.

Fasolo is going to have great game and bad games it's very hard for a forward pocket to get involved in the game when your getting smashed

There's no way we can drop Fas.

The ball was parked in our defensive 50 all night. What's a small forward to do with limited opportunities and delivery like that?
Our forward worked hard all the way up the ground and IMO at times too hard to compensate for our poor ball users.

Out: Ramsay Goldsack frost Sinclair (injured
In: freeman Reid degooey Kennedy
Ramsay is not ready, no composure for a backman
Frost looked terrible tonight, Reid in for him
Goldsack, just don't see what he adds to the side, no scoreboard impact, and you can't play forward if you are no threat to the scoreboard, them went back tonight and was no better
Sinclair, shame he has done yet another hamstring

Problem is, what's the club's agenda?
I know Eddie said during the launch that we could sneak a flag but does the inner sanctum really believe this? If so, that will mean the established players plus the odd new face. If not, they really need to be sweeping the new generation through.

We can't play all the kids but I be trying to rotate the below through the 1s
- Reid
- Marsh
- Freeman
- Witts
- PK
- Gault (not sure he's totally in form but we need to see if he should be persisted with)
- DGo (played well today but not great - needs more time in the 2s)

Plus there's some boys we can look at later in the year
- Maynard (v solid today)
- Goodyear
- Cox
- Shaz

Further, like other posters, I was all for holding Darcy back this year but he is already starting to demand a spot - he'll play sooner than later

So, if I was picking the team, I'd like to bring in
- Witts
- marsh
- Freeman
- possibly Gault

Out
- Sinkers
- Varcoe
- 2 of White / Fas / Rama

Why does Freeman come in was he I'm the 2/3 best today?
Yes he was, in my eyes anyway. Most would give Moore BOG from the VFL and rightfully so, but Freeman ran out the game and I'd be shocked if he didn't have 25 + disposals. Runs hard, has a defensive side to his game and uses the ball well.

We need midfield depth, he's midfield depth, even if he's still so young and raw.

* Freeman--He's been out of the game for more than a while, and in fact he's barely been 'in' the game since 2013. He needs more VFL time.
* Moore--He is banging the door down, but I don't know...Do we want to burden the kid with expectations, other than to learn the game as much as he can over the next few months? I'm not say he might turn into another Jack Watts, and I'm certainly not saying that we are as desperate as Melbourne once were, but maybe we just need to hold off for a while longer.
* Dwyer--Another good game in the VFL today. Smart and reliable player, reasonable disposal. He needs to come in.
* PK--Not on current form, or any demonstrated form from last year.
* BK--Might be getting over an illness anyway, but same as PK for mine.
* Reid--Needs more time.
* Witts--Big fella might be ready to rumble.
* Ramsay--Doesn't seem to have greatly impressed, but today just wasn't the occasion for it. Keep him in for another week.
* De Goey--I don't know that he had that good a game today, but it was perhaps good enough. He certainly isn't afraid of a contest, and he has more polish than most. He has to be a chance.
* Goodyear--I haven't seen enough of him. Is that because he's so fast? Anyway, others are better qualified than me to determine whether or not he's up for a game in the big league. If he is, then bring him on.

Out: Sinclair, Fasolo, Varcoe, Goldsack
In: Freeman, Karnezis, DeGoey, Witts (if fit)
