Hughes has actually improved his decision making timing. More direct and basic, whereas Henry spends so long trying to do a cute/risky kick then has to kick the first option which is already picked up by the opposition.
Yep exactly. Henry spends too much time looking for the perfect option instead of just going for the good enough option. He’ll be better once he realises that sometimes the first option is the best option.

I love Brodie but it's the right call to drop him.

It shows that nobody should be a walk on starter every week and anyone can and should be dropped if they don't perform.

You need to show this. From what I've observed it's just something people say, but has no factual basis.

Pay close attention to him in general and you’ll realise he takes too long and tries to take the perfect option and fails.

I don’t remember the exact players involved but I was sat behind the goals and we had two players leading into open space and Henry kicks it in between both of them because he took too long to decide what he wanted to do

Yes he ****ed that one up going to Freddy and not one of the other options but while he can take longer to make a decision it often results in a better option which is why despite less than 20 touches he has the most goal assists and 3rd most score involvements so far (not high bars in this team but important). He’s not perfect but he’s also not the problem IMO

Tabs has the benefit of his replacement being Treacy who had a stinker the last time he played while Brodie has a lot more competition for his spot.
At the same time, Taberner can't run out a game. I'd rather at least go young with Treacy where there's plenty of room for him to improve, Taberner isn't going to improve any further, you know what to expect from him.

But "TBone" has been consistently average. At some point (I'm already there) you are going to have to admit, the season is a write off. There's no point continuing with the same forward line every week expecting a different result. At this point there is no harm in filling the forward line with a bunch of fresh faces, if for nothing else, to experiment and to find the ideal setup.

Whether you want to admit it this early in the season or not, we are NOT playing finals this year.
60 goals 25 in 34 games at Optus. 3 goals in each of the last 3 derbies he's played in. More goals against the Eagles in the last 5 years than any other Freo player. Even the 2020 game where we got a total of 5 he kicked 2 of them. In 2019 when he didn't play, I think we kicked 30 points total and the Eags got 120 or something. McDardy was our top scorer with 1. There's no in form tall forward vying for his spot. Laughable that people were suggesting Josh Treacy. Do people even keep up? He didn't play last weekend at all.

Taberner should have been dropped too, as should have Hughes. It's a start though.
Not at all true. Think about it, we drop Tabs and it's 4 gamer Amiss as our only tall target. Jackson is playing more midfield, so it'd be Amiss versus McGovern and Barass.

Worth noting Jackson has taken one whole mark this season, so he's hardly a forward threat anyway, regardless if he was to play midfield or not.

No way should Tabs be dropped, would literally make no sense

Bring in Treacy then, yes he's young but I have more faith in him than a guy that can't run out a full game anymore.

No harm in making Treacy earn his games. Treacy has realistically played one good quarter since 2021.

Playing Amiss and Treacy together with no tall support this early in their careers would be the worst forward line in the comp. It might work in a year or two, but not now

Going in 1 medium tall fwd short. It’s jarring.

As I predicted all week Johnson in as Sub and Jackson in the guts. Jacko needs another pre season learning the craft and building his footy iq. For now he can use his athletic ability and strength in Brodies role.

Sturt or Corbett should of come in though.

Agree with this, however will add one thing of note.

There were times last week where he backed away from contact and he could have slowed the ball movement or stopped/impeded their play. Acres/hughes would have and it is a weakness he will need to work on.

He does offer more positives than negatives, but unless he is pure silk he won't get away with not engaging physically for too long.

Appears to be 2 sets of rules. Treacy had 3 disposals at 100% & Amiss had 3 disposals at 33% yet Amiss gets another go. They have played players before without playing the previous week

That is a fair point, although, I think it is a weakness not to give young talls at least a few games to get a taste. As long as at least one is in I am fine.

It is a shame that Treacy hasn't got the opportunity to tear the WAFL apart and come back in.

I wager I've been paying closer attention than most.

Ok though... are you talking about 12:55 to go in Q1 (around 11:00 in on the Kayo replay), when he marked from Banfield's kick, played on and beat Ziebell, took two steps and put it to the deeper player in Schultz - placing near the goal square (Amiss leading out into space, but on an angle and further away), Shultz did a fair spoil (Amiss gathered the crumbs and kicked a goal), yet the umpire paid the reflex free to Corr & then 50m penalty?

Maybe, I would have preferred Treacy got another week but can understand him being dropped. From the eye test, Amiss was better anyway IMO, actually had some unrewarded leading which is more than you can say for the rest of the forwards. Amiss probably the beneficiary of being the 2nd one to come in and the match committee would look absolutely ridiculous dropping Amiss off one game to bring Treacy straight back in (and he's the only other alternative).

Yep.....

And it stinks of the time Freo had Chris Connolly as coach from 2002-07.

Again.... Just look at our 2003 draftees. All of them didn't debut until 2005. Yep this class had the likes of Ryley Dunn , David Mundy and Michael Johnson.

Again.... Those 2005 draftees who were the likes of Marcus drum Garrick Ibbotson and Rob Warnock, didn't play a game in 2006. They spent 2006 in the WAFL. All 3 had their debut games in 2007.
Interesting. Mind you I really don't expect talls to play early and there are a lot of talls there. Dunn and Ibbotson the exceptions.

No I don’t think it was that one. I don’t remember scoring* from it and I feel like it was later on. Would’ve been in the third.
