I think you're seeing what you want to see, if he was freeing his arms and firing off handballs that hit targets, surely he'd be getting higher contested possession numbers.

But he doesn't, and he can't, because it is a skill he didn't require at Junior levels.

I think you are looking at his stats sheet rather than watching his games. Sheed in 2015 was excellent at getting his hands free of the tackle and distributing the ball. It was his defining characteristic.

I'm really not sure what fantasy you have concocted.

I'm watching the games, Sheed is a link, he is not an extractor.

It is precisely why his contested ball count is so low, there is a difference between being in traffic, and actually taking the tackler on.

It's obviously the hair.....

Samson Nelson.

Nello still building his tank before he can play serious minutes in the guts I feel. He should be a good rotation at least in the next year or so. Determination around the ball still counts for a hell of a lot and can make up for a a fair shortcoming in absolute strength.

No I'm talking bout his 2015 game.

Shuey really didn't come in till mid 2015 as a 25 year old sheed still has time. One thing that has hurt sheed is that he doesn't get too much time in the middle. Shreds grunt work is far too superior to duggan. If Duggan does come on he would be a bit similar to a josh Kelly in the sense that he would be an outside player that finds his own ball. Rumour here is that sheed defensive game needs work and Simmo's not happy bout it.

I mean, he almost won the rising star in 2011, but sure...

If Sheed is a plodder we may as well put the cue in the rack after 2018.

Shuey and Gaff, with no support, wont get us near finals let alone the big dance.

It's not that I don't rate him but he hasn't played great since his injury and isn't going to be the difference anyway. Redden, Hutchings, Masten, Jetta aren't going to support them into a Gf, it showed last year, hopefully Venebles and Duggan kick on.

I just don't think that there are going to be many on here that agree with you. Sheed has his deficiencies but what you've mentioned isn't one of them.

Good old WC match committee at it's best again, pull out the old scapegoat cards and drop em on Hutch and Jets to bring in a guy who's pretty much a defensive back up, and a kid who didn't even play last week. Meanwhile Redden, Shep, Masto and others did **** all decent last week and are free to coast around while Sheed collected 37 possessions in the WAFL and doesn't get a recall. Is it any wonder the guys in the WAFL don't make much of an effort when our MC makes idiotic decisions like this?

They dropped the 2 worst performing mids from Saturday. Both guys have been average all year. Whats the issue?

I disagree, Redden,Shep, Masto were all worse, and Hutch at least kicked a goal, plus he can play a lock down role if needed. Jetta has speed and foot skills we can use. As I said before, Butler is a defensive bsck up and Duggan hasn't played for two weeks, nor was he in great form when he did play. It's a stupid decision by our MC which is now becoming renowned for strange decisions.

It's been suggested Hutch was supposed to be playing this role on Martin...hence the axing.

Can anyone confirm this, coz I never saw him get sent to Martin once. That still doesn't excuse the others who did **** all and have been quiet for most of the season. It also doesn't explain the inclusions, or the non rewarding of Sheeds WAFL form.

Are you not surprised that the two that came in were emergencies last week and didn't play ?

Simmo has been planing for this 5 day break and I think it was pre planned this way.

If anything I think Simmo has rewarded Duggan and Butlers form from the week before

I like Hutch, but he's a very limited player. We need our young guys to come on in a hurry if we're going to improve, and i'm all for giving Duggo a good crack at it. It's odd that Sheed wasn't an immediate recall, but i'm happy enough with him spending another week in the wafl if it helps him realise what he needs to contribute defensively.

I think we will go in with one less tall than named - either Darling or Vardy will make way, both are under injury clouds

One extra mid (sheed or mutimer) who can play forward to come in.

We're loading up with small defender as Richmond opened us up with speed - clearly what Sydney are trying to do with Papley.

I'm not sure what Hutch was doing in that game he barely got any contested possessions and didnt register a clearance. If we are using him as an outside player there are better options. Anyone can play a lock down role. As for Masten the general consensus is he has been good so far this year it sounds like you just hate him. Redden got plenty of tackles and clearances plus more disposals than the 2 dropped. Sheppard is a defender so irrelevant.

Butler has obviously been brought in so we can move either Wellingham or Nelson up the ground.

Masten's been one of our better players this year, Redden was reasonably solid and Shep plays a completely different role. You kind of have to bring in like for like and although I do like Hutch I just don't think he can perform much better than he currently is, hence the Duggan inclusion.
