I hate to sound too optimistic, But fact is season is not over,.... Alright it effectively is with our percentage, but win the next two would give us 12 wins, (not that I see us beating the bombers, but could happen...)
It's still not impossible to make finals, so IMO we should be putting the best side we can get on the park on the ground, no matter who they are.

Why not bring in Leslie, Schade, Allen,Hunt, the season is over and a taste of the level they need to play at could only be a good thing going into pre season and give us a chance to say goodbye to K.

I am assuming Gorringe and Dixon are unavailable this week.

Lynch has to play CHF. The rotating rucks would have to be Day and Thompson.

Which would mean Warnock to play on Carlisle and Schade to play on Daniher.

Bellchambers may play as well...

I agree with you, Essendon has shown it can play some terrible games and we've lost to opponents far worse then your current form places you.
Best of luck with the weekend, hope its an exciting game, I also hope you decide to give up on the 8 and rest a few key players ;).

I don't think the Suns will do too badly. The biggest danger men in Essendon's side on form at the moment are Winderlich, Heppell, and Stanton (all have been in amazing form, but major props to Winderlich for trying his guts out and likely to retire on a very positive note). Anyway, I think the Suns compete better on ground level than in the air, so we'll see what their tall blokes do in this game. It's times like these that I wish the Suns had better pressure (or a great tagger), because Jobe Watson should be rusty enough for it to work. Unfortunately, I see him smoothly getting back into full form.

Joe Daniher seems like he's running out of steam, so I am not overly concerned about him. Touch wood! Hurley has been in some fantastic form and could end up being a major pain for the guys. Goddard could decide to hit some form and put our defence under some major pump (50/50, guy's form is like a yo-yo).

I am still waiting for Paul Chapman to look like his old self. It comes in patches, but he's definitely not at the top of his game this year (he was my favourite player at Geelong for a long time, that big game player).

Just saw that Bomber thinks there won't be a spot for him at Essendon next year. Knowing that the club's players are split between their preferred coach (reported earlier in the year), I'd imagine (and hope...) they'd be a little distracted. Only thing I can think of that may get us over the line at the moment haha.

With an in form Matt Shaw, Aaron Hall, and Sam Day in the squad, we could overcome them with the speed of the first two, and the brute strength of the latter (provided he can barge through the pack and mark the ball). It's do-or-die with GC at the moment. It was good to see Bluey refuse to acknowledge that we're out of finals contention, though I'm not sure if he genuinely believes it.

We are technically still on the mark, just our horrible percentage destroying us. 2 games versus Hawthorn was always going to be bad news. If we had pulled out the win on the weekend, we would be speaking very differently about this week.

That's a big risk! He hasn't played in the NEAFL yet, right? We're going to bring him straight in like we did Smith?
Did it for Martin against Geelong too, and it was a great decision imo. But I'm wary too :(

It also states both Gorringe and Martin are recovering better than expected from last weeks game and may also be fit enough to play.
Hopefully this means they can be included! Martin is a big loss, Gorringe not so much - BUT they will both very positively impact on our game should they play.

Richmond upsetting Adelaide last week had changed the run home dramatically. Despite currently sitting 12th on 9 wins, West Coast unbelievably are favourites to make the 8, due to Adelaide and Richmond likely only winning 1 of their final 2 games. If we win our final 2 games then we almost certainly make finals. Hopefully the playing group realise this isnt over and go hard at Essendon. Then it would all come down to GC V WC, winner makes the 8.

Watching the Bombers/WC game, one thing is clear, we got to man Heppell up. 2nd half he played loose across half back and just tore West Coast up. Huge coaching error by Simpson not to lock him down and Bluey cant make that same mistake. Essendon's 1st half though was shocking and that was due to West Coast's pressure, which cause lots of turn overs and easy goals for WC. Heppell getting free turned that around though, so I'm concerned we won't have the legs to go 4 quarters.

The biggest if of all time

I don't think we will win either. I give us a chance against West Coast

If Gorringe and Nichols are both fit I would play both, and they can split the ruck duties 50/50 with the spare resting forward. Maybe leave Day up there and bring Warnock in, or play Day down back on one of their talls.

I think playing Day down back could be good for him, get his hands on the ball and develop some much needed confidence :thumbsu:

By getting molested by the Essendon forwards? If he can't get confidence from our string of wins earlier in the year, or his fantastic performance against Collingwood with 4 goals, then I doubt this will work. Worth a shot though!

Play like freo and Port when they are firing. Its a pretty simple recipe really; Manic tackling, running, harassment, never, ever, give up and BE THERE!

Whenever I think a game is a definite loss, I think of St Kilda vs Fremantle ;)

Keen for this game!

That is what I am telling myself come rnd 23 :P

I think you guys are in for a real shot at this game. EFC are not the strongest sides mentally and if you keep this a contested game and block there run from half back you will win. There main weakness is that they cant kick a huge score, so if you lock the game down, kill there run, your forwards should kick a higher score then theirs.

Good luck!
