I think if we put together a firm 4 quarters we are in with a legitimate chance.
Would love to see Gillbee get a run after his NEAFL performance last week.

My dream was answered! What a game!
Very happy with Lynch last night as well as the others everyone has mentioned. Still can't believe we nailed Carlton!!

Dixon signed until 2015 to boot, what a great week! Caddy surely couldnt be wanting to leave now... looked as passionate as anyone out there

Did you guys let the fireworks off again? I think that's a great idea let everyone know on the gold coast when you win...even people not interested will start saying if they see the fireworks "oh the suns must of won" and as your kids develope the fireworks will start becoming more frequent. :thumbsu:

buzz cut is all the talk of the town at the moment, projected to go number 1 in tomorrow's draft.

---

had a sudden thought at the training today. numerous times this year, we've played a team fairly high on the ladder with the opposition supporters coming away from the match thinking "better put that one behind us, should have played better" without the percentage booster they were all certain on.

with carlton smashing essendon last week, they'll need to perform well to make the finals in the next 2 weeks, fighting for the last spot with freo i think. i reckon even after seeing the "let's thrash them" comments on their board, which i have seen too many times before, we'll put up a decent fight, especially being our last home game for the year. obviously a different circumstance this close to finals, but i still feel carlton fans may leave with a performance less than what they expected.

yeah, i probably just jynxed us big time, but it's a trend i've noticed and i want to predict the future.

I AM A WIZARD.

Just at the line with 68point head start. Was talked out of it on the head by missus and my brother...booooo

Let that be a lesson to ensure you have a betting app on your phone.... just sending a text dear... than when the big money rolls in... "Why yes dear that was me oredering the flowers and chocolate"

Good win and a big win late at the season for sets a tone for the coming year for a young side to feed off. .

2 on the trot at Metricon!

Great win but lets keep it in perspective, it was one of those rare games where the better tea did not win. We were lucky we kicked straight whilst the Blues kicked for goal at an amateur level.

Best game ive seen Tom Lynch play to date and promising signs given the large contingent of depth players in the 22!

No credit for defensive pressure?

Correct Lord F
As I've said
Going to Metricon week after week over the past 2 years where the Visitors were basically having a laff
No pressure...you kick everything
On the weekend we put Carlton under scoreboard pressure early which meant they knew they not only had to beat us, but score quickly to get the percentage boost they were looking for.
The pressure basically meant they folded and kicking which is the surest sign of pressure went to the dogs.

Many misses from set shots. Suns deserved the win, just saying we would have lost that game 8 times out of 10.

...and we have lost them 8 times out of 10, but not this time. Suck it Carlton. Best.Win.Ever

Ok finally caught the whole replay, and decided to write my observations and opinion down after every quarter so here goes...

1st Quarter
Carlton paying absolutely no respect and very lacklustre. Lynch did well to get the 2 marks and 2 goals, but I must say he still doesn't command the footy. It was more the delivery of the football and Lynch moved into the space. Gillbee was great in his few touches, did what was required and taking opportunities when they presented themselves. Harley was destroyed around the stoppages by Judd, a 30 sec period where he had 2 stoppages against Judd and was torched both times. Needed to be on the defensive side/dangerous side of Judd but didnt play it well, hopefully learns from that run. McKenzie uses the ball best on instinct and under pressure, also kicks better when hes running over 50% pace. I cringe when he has time and space.

2nd Quarter
Great goal from Ablett with the snap. Loving the excitement amongst the players, its infectious around the ground and you can see it flowing through the contests. Carlton lifted the workrate, but kicking is really REALLY letting them down. Really basic skill errors from Weller, running backwards and trying to give a handball over the top, and an errant kick. Couple good things from Dicko, thought of a new nickname for him too...Stiffy (Dixon -> Big Dick -> Stiffy). Not sure if it will stick. Again May demanding the footy with his leading, does this a hell of a lot better than Lynch. I actually like Lynch in the backline better than forwardline, I'm not convinced he has the timing of a forward. As a forward you have to create/read the play, know when and where to lead, not sure Lynchy has that. Could be a case of Folau, and even May where perhaps play in the backlines for a season and learn what to do from the good forwards in the game. Really liked Bluey's coaching here, Give Bennell the job on Judd in the 1st, realised the education is done now put Stanley on him who did a great job on negating Judd's influence that quarter. He has been fantastic for us and has often got the job on the best player in defence or midfield.

3rd Quarter
Usual ordinary quarter for us, dissapointing. Carlton really starting to turn the heat up now. Destroyed with disposals, our pressure has dropped significantly and spaces are really starting to open up. Warnock and Coad working well together and performing admirably in defence. Dixon really battling, sorry I should say Stiffy struggling to stay up (pun intended) and probably should be rested and given the vest to be honest. Lynch gone missing a bit, still in defence, and not sure if hes in no mans land around the ground? Cant recall Saturday night to be honest. Flanagan, no desperation or urgency when its his turn to go. 1 more week next week then probably delist or rookied. Bennell still seemingly having an off game, looking casual and trying to outsmart rather than work harder. Seem to be running out of legs.

4th Quarter
Continued to get dominated in the first half of the last quarter, found run in the legs in the last 10 minutes and snatched the win. Unbeleivable. Bennell started to get a little more involved, not with damaging disposals though, but seemed to influence contests? Lynch's best quarter I thought. Dixon kept willing himself at contests. Great win, biggest scalp of in our history. I think this really was a perfect example of Carlton losing the game, and we took our opportunities when presented.
