reckon some people are letting last season cloud their judgment a tad.

Also after thinking it through further I'm slightly inclined to want to bring in hardy if he has a good game in the 2s next week.
It would be at the expense of bags, but it's purely horses for courses as i think hardy is better equipped to handle Howe's aerial game.

17 touches, 5 tackles and a goal is "contributing nothing"?

Here we go, another one of those morons who just looks at the stats. You can get stats without having an influence on the game. Sick of you dumb Essendon fans...heck off before the whole group lose credibility. Anyone can just look at the stats and make a judgment...you just have to be able to count.

I guess when picking a team just order the players based on possessions and drop the lowest scorer...idiot.

well that's more than a tad harsh.
The thing with melksham is, we were all looking for work rate, we were all looking at the way he covered the ground. The 17 touches for me is pretty irrelevant (just indicative of him finding a bit of touch), whats more important is the 5 tackles, massive improvement on last year. Most importantly i reckon he got better as the game wore on, which again is a huge improvement on last year where he'd start alright and be out of puff by halftime.

I'd contend that Donsman is not the idiot in this debate....and it's not me either.

IIRC he went 3, 4, 4, 6 touches in the game by quarter as well

Says the guy who has been here for a month... If you dont like it, then dont bother coming on here. A majority of us on this board are reasonable people, who take the good with the bad in regards to or players and try to look at things objectively. Coming on here and spouting your mouth off at regular posters will earn you no respect, nor friends. Maybe posters on the Houston boards will tolerate it, but not on here, not by a long shot.

Now I agree stats don't tell the whole story, but to say Melksham had no influence is just flat out wrong. Just off the top of my head, have a look at the setup to Watson's Q4 goal, then tell me that Melksham had no influence.

Personal attacks. Really....

Only change id make if hes fit is Zaka in for Merrett or Kommer and probably the earlier because Kommer added something a bit different.

Merrett was very good but Zaka with another run this weekend i think after 2 half games and a full game he has to start otherwise he shouldnt be playing at all.

Bloody harsh on Kommer or Merrett if they get dropped after the way they played. Zaka would always be the better player but I think the performances of those young guys shouldn't go unrewarded. Use it as an opportunity to make Zaka force his way into the side by tearing it up in the VFL this week rather than giving him a gold pass.

Id argue no change.

I would even allow Zaka to play as the sub (again) as Kommer and Merret, the two in question, both made significant impacts in the forward half and IMO shouldnt be dropped, especially Merret. Youngster who can only get better.

Anyways, barring injury:

Essendon:

Ins: -
Out: -

Just in case you're not a poster taking the piss (and I think I know who you could be based on writing style) I just want to make it clear that you're an imbecile. Seriously, my initial instinct is to give posters like you the credit of taking the piss because you get so personal and come across as such a halfwit.

Almost exclusively everyone has been satisfied with Melksham's game based on the perception that he has improved a number of intangibles in his game (e.g. movement, endeavour/aggression and more sustained impact).

The stats merely support what everyone who watched the game with their heads out of their arseholes suspects.

**** off because this board is a worse place for your posting here.

If Zaharakis is playing a full game I'd consider dropping Merrett.

Not because he deserves to be dropped, just because I don't think young guys make as good subs as experienced players.

Also, because as good as his game was he did still lose his feet and get caught out of position a few times. When he was involved it was great, but I think he can be eased in and out without trying to expose him to too much at one time.

Assuming Gumby has a good hit out this week, we should keep it simple.

Out: Crameri
In: Gumby

Personally I see the Gumby + Hurley + small forward structure working a lot stronger.
Gumby = leading into space.
Hurley = strong around the ground + busting packs.

Hurls and Stew overlap much more than Hurls and Gumby.

Well it's good to have footy back, I almost missed some of the stuff in this thread....almost.

No changes for me barring injury. If crameri is sore give him a rest and bring in gumby or run with a smaller forward line. But we don't play this week any niggles should be gone, make the players that missed out fight for it and let the boys who played have a chance to back up the good work.

I will make the statement that I believe every single player that ran out Friday played a role. Every player won their position when it needed to be. The only exception maybe was crameri, but he was pretty hampered.

Gumby, Hurley and Crameri > Gumby & Hurley alone.
