Prediction R3 Changes v Richmond

Interesting that Pearce only played 52% game time, after 59% last week.

Darcy at least increased from 45 to 54%.

Between them almost identical to last week. Pearce at 52% is the one that is really killing our rotations - at full fitness he’d be playing 90%+. Darcy maybe 65-70% is normal and ok.

Again with the recently traded in bias.

Take the blinders off.

There is absolutely no way that you could ever convince me that Worner should be dropped over McVee is the correct call.
Except that McVee is still finding his feet in the team. People have obviously forgotten the hard time LJ and the club were getting in his first month of games.

Mcvee looked so slow throughout the game. In the first qtr he had a man run off him and gave the most pathetic chase. I would be showing him that vision and dropping him. I don’t mind slow if you are slow but this seemed to be an effort thing

I'm going way too early on McVee, but I don't think he's a long-term player. He has great composure and I think his skills are solid. But he's slow, doesn't seem to be strong or good in the air. I feel like he needs another string to his bow.

Ryan and Clark are another level above, then it's Worner for me. I feel we can only have two of Walker, McVee, and Chapman.

Walker has great closing speed and speed with the ball but poor awareness. Chapman is solid overhead and one-on-one with tidy skills but succumbs to pressure at times/cant break a tackle.

My preference is to omit McVee at the moment, and I'm not against trying Amiss down there too

Amiss was given time on the wing which hasn't been done in an actual game (including pre season games) this year.

Reckon JL knows Darcy isn't 100% but is playing him anyway but the change in role isn't exactly part of the plan.

Seems like a last resort to get something out of him. Reckon he could be in some trouble next Thursday, especially of JL wants to bring Young in. Think Young could play a third tall forward reasonably effectively tbh.

Yeah in the last and he butchered it unfortunately

I thought he presented well as a forward but we dobbed way more goals on the run from 50 than we usually do TBH

Perfect scenario for Darcy next week, no recognised ruck against him he needs to play well and get up 65-70% tog.

B Cox in for McDonald will happen. I’d like Walker back in but genuinely think anyone dropped down back would be stiff. Maybe Drizzy goes but that unbalances the team a little.

Young won’t be risked.

Darcy for Cox is an obvious one. Though with Nankervis very likely an out who knows how the selection committee will tackle that one!

Can we change up the scoring end too please. 22/27 goals for the game down one end. 3/17 for us.

Voss and Amiss were both super quiet but don’t think either of them deserve a spell (and it’s not like we have Peel players banging down the door in any sort of competitive matches at the moment!)

In Banfield for the lols
I can't believe they surprised us with him in the pre season and then got him out for the main games

ultimate troll lol

Surely he isn't coming in before Walker and Simpson at the very least, gotta be far back in the order by now

Watch his 2024 highlights. He is not slow. He's not Clark or Wagner level, but more than capable of a burst/dash away from opposition. He's also very good in the air ... beating/spoiling the likes of Stringer and Caddy despite giving up height. He also shows some good tackling efforts, including taking down Stringer attempting a fend off.

He didn't play nearly as well last year, but I think there were issues with his role and the coach and he wasn't happy. I still have faith we will get the 2024 version (and more with proper development). Needs to settle into the team.

It is indeed hard to fit all those names you mention though into the backline. Simpson as well in the mix. I'd prefer to move one (or a rotation of a few) up the field to take O'Driscoll's spot.

In: Draper/Davies + Walker?
Out: Omac + Worner?

Persist with Darcy. It is currently pain but we'll be better for it later on as the season continues. Likewise for Amiss, yes the missed shot was frustrating and the disposal in the last was shocking - but the forward line doesn't function as well when he's missing. Creates space for Treacy/Voss and demands at least a decent defender. He'll have his day soon.

Against the baby Tigers, I would love to see Draper or a Davies brought in against a very young forward line (Lynch surely missing with the hammy).

Worner's good defensively and a great role player, but likely the least safe med-small defender to make way if Walker's back next game.

Give Young the extra week or two, no need to repeat last season's disastrous management. Same with B.Cox, he's also too important to risk this early on.

McVee will be fine, but finding his footing into the side - took Clark/Bolton/Jackson some games also to click.

Side note - Scerri's pace is something special, going to be a real player once he hits 50 games. If we can get Simpson into the the side also? That's something special for this team

Correction, three games and counting. Four if you would like to include the West Coast practice match, I'm not because I didn't see it.

Meanwhile Worner was actually alright tonight yet people seem to think he should be getting dropped from the backline for Walker despite how McVee is actually playing.

Also you absolutely cannot compare Jackson to McVee. Jackson had infinitely more runs on the board from his time at Melbourne then McVee.

I'd probably be bringing Cox in for Darcy but I think we're all just going to need to accept that unless he's injured, Darcy is playing AFL footy.

Cox and Walker hopefully back next week.

One of the biggest pros of Cox over Darcy is his ability in the forward line.

We could go smaller and bring in more run if we went with Cox and a small in place of Amiss and Darcy.

That's probably the only way I see him getting a run in the next 2-3 weeks. Otherwise they'll give Darcy a good run at it.

Bolton needs to play mid at least 50 percent.
Sane with Reid, Young when fit, Brawshaw , Serong, Erasmus etc.

I don't want Jackson playing as a middle, as it pushes these players out.

So, I think drop Darcy. But it won't happen.

He really need 4 weeks in WAFL to get fit.

What to do with Drizz? He did a couple of nice things coupled with some absolute dross?

Felt he moved around the ground quite well. Got back nicely defensively, but his ball use was an impediment

If Jom or Frederick are fit then maybe his spot is in question.

I think he holds it for a while. Hard to tell if anyone at Peel pushed hard enough to take the spot, but very unlikely we make more than 1 change this week

Yeah, watched it, not that impressed. Davies, Hughes, or Duman probably could get a better package over a season.

No hate, though, and I trust the recruitment team, but I just don't see it yet, and why we would offer five years to him.

His composure does seem elite, though, and in big games, he should step up. Hopefully, we see a bit of creativity and better execution with ball in hand soon.

You guys do realize that Darcy can build his fitness and confidence AT PEEL, right? Why actively make our team worse by leaving him in at the moment?

Most of Pearce's time on the pine was in the last quarter. At 3 qtr time I checked and he was around 75%, Duds 77% and Darcy just under 50%

It was good to see Chapman had a much better game, and Oh Scerri didn't look out of place at the top level. How awesome was his debut! 20 possessions off a high/half if you don't mind.

I'd be tempted to go 'no changes', with a watch on McVee. Cox in if fit.

McVee has been pretty ordinary so far - and had some dreadful moments. I'm pretty sure Peel have a scratchie V West Coast next week. Might be a good move to play him there V one of the AFL listed forwards and see if he can get some touch.
