Had shoulder surgery in the off season, he's being managed back

Balmy reckons he'll be back next week (presumably in the VFL practice matches). The club are being uber cautious.

Had hip surgery in the off-season. He played for the VFL on Saturday and Maxy reckoned he looked good. Imagine he'll be working back up to fitness and might take a while.
damn, so none of them a chance to play next week.
All 3 better playy round 3

Okay, first try...

OUT: Sidebottom , Ramsay, De Goey
IN: Broomhead, Kennedy, Witts/Gault

1st change speaks for itself, Ramsay dropped for team balance (just don't need the extra small back against Adelaide) and De Goey can get his minutes in the the VFL side if he can't run a game out. Witts or Gault comes in because Grundy can't take Jacobs alone with just the occasional chop-out from White. Cloke also needs the extra support. Would probably prefer Witts, but either will do.

Broomhead and Elliott the main two to split Sidebottom's midfield minutes. Blair I suppose gets some as well.

Dwyer thereabouts, but will wait until the injury report. Even then, would prefer Broomhead.

Well IF De Goey is Dropped because of Concern about Running the Game Out. Oxley and Ramsey be also be Dopped

Out, Oxley, Sidebottom, Sinclair.

In, Freeman, Broomhead, Karnezis

Push Goldsack back to cover Ox, he needs time in the VFL. We obviously can't run out games and Freeman can kill it in the stoppages along with running hard. Karnezis to replace Goldsack or Blair up forward if they are resting or Goldsacks back. Degoey to be a sub to get more fitness/experience. Broomhead for more class in our midfield and forward. This kid can play and needs some game time! Pushing him on the wing or on ball means another resting mid can stay behind the ball?

Well, my 'preconceived opinion' of Ramsay was that he was good enough to play 15+ games tonight. Tonight he was fumbly and gave away a few reckless free kicks, he was not one of our better performed players. We need to drop at least one defender this week, for team balance.

Yes he gave away some average free kicks but he needs to keep playing to learn the fine line of being overzealous. He did have great commitment and attack on both ball and player and needs to be rewarded.

Broomhead for Sidebottom.

With Sidebottom out it's hard to drop Swan but strange no one is suggesting for Swan's head. Showed some vintage Dane at times but his finish was the worst of all. He may and should get better but he can't continue to butcher the ball.

No its not, Swan still got 30 possies and was had the most contested possession and he is moving better than last year, only a matter of time till he gets back to his best.

Degoey to play sub to get more fitness???? 1 quarter in AFL vs 4 in VFL-if its fitness you want for Degoey, clearly VFL is the go. Time for him to go back for a couple IMO. If fit, Dwyer deserves an opportunity and will have more of an impact than Degoey.

De Goey has to start a Game either VFL or AFL. No Sub

TD, who out of Dwyer or Degoey in your opinion will have a greater impact this week and why?

Well I rather play De Goey as he has to biggest Upside of the 2 but Dwyer be more ready

Likely teams will be

Adelaide
  • Daniel Talia, Kyle Hartigan, Kyle Cheney
  • Rory Laird, Luke Brown, Matthew Jaensch
  • Ricky Henderson, Rory Sloane, Brodie Smith
  • Eddie Betts, Matthew Wright, Nathan Van Berlo
  • Taylor Walker, Charlie Cameron, Tom Lynch
  • Sam Jacobs, Patrick Dangerfield, Richard Douglas

  • Josh Jenkins, David Mackay, Cam Ellis-Yolmen, SUB Jarryd Lyons
No Change

Collingwood

  • Alan Toovey, Nathan J. Brown, Ben Sinclair
  • Tom Langdon, Jack Frost, Adam Oxley
  • Travis Varcoe, Tim Broomhead, Jackson Ramsay
  • Dane Swan, Jesse White, Tyson Goldsack
  • Jamie Elliott, Travis Cloke, Alex Fasolo
  • Brodie Grundy, Taylor Adams, Scott Pendlebury

  • Jarryd Blair, Jack Crisp, Marley Williams, SUB Jordan de Goey
OUT: S. Sidebottom (Thumb)
IN: T. Broomhead

They will be tempted to throw Seedsman in after a good run, he might still be underdone and Oxley did ok.
Spewing Dwyer got injured, he would have been best replacement for Steele, but a chance for Broomhead to have a run.
Freeman is getting better and better too, some of these kids are going to be jets when they have all had 5 pre seasons.

My prediction for the game, I think the game will eb and flow and will be am arm wrestle for most.
Both teams will have their chances with very similar structures and styles, so it should be tight for at least the first half, I think they will run over the top of us though.
We have too many kids and Adelaide are seasoned, I rated them last year, they had horrible luck with injuries, but this year they are good to go.
If it's tight all the way, they will have the legs.

Adelaide 17 points.

Sinkers started last year in fine form before injury hit.
He has added size to his body, physicality to his game.
Yes, he has disposal problems, but I'd prefer my defenders to stop their opponent.
But that is coming from an old full full back.

Oh rusty, a man after my own heart.

I was the kind of full back that used to look for the clearing touch kick to the wing boundary. They were the days...

We'll either win this by less than 2 goals, or lose it by 10 goals.

I just can't see the middle ground. I honestly wouldn't be gutted with a competitive sub-25 point loss.

Would love to see Broomhead in for Sidey, and someone a little more readymade in for De Goey. Maybe Dwyer if fit. Even Kennedy.

Agree he is moving better than last year but that wouldn't be hard. No good having 30 possies if running at 45% DE and 6 (surprised it was only 6) clangers. Also considering nearly 50% of his possessions were uncontested. Some very wild undisciplined kicking that we were lucky to get away with. He looked absolutely spent out there most of the night and hopefully will be better for the run. I hope he can get back to being half as good as his best but time will tell. I just get annoyed when other players have been slammed after playing one game or players that haven't had the luxury or continuity of playing week after week.

Why? They've both had 3 preseasons under their belt. Their ability to run out games would be significantly better than DeGoey's.

Bucks said that Oxley and Ramsey had doubts of running out a game during the Presser after the game

was all over oxley and ramsay playing round 1 despite the lack of love for either of them in the 22's i was seeing posted. there is no way oxley will be dropped this week - may not have had a blinder 1st up, but he is in the top 3 kicks at the club and will be important off half back v the crow press with his long kicking ability

only change i see is a replacement for sidebottom - i suspect that a seasoned player like dwyer probably gets the nod rather than a youngster. possible de goey goes back for a full game in the vfl, and maybe broomhead or kennedy comes into the 22

very confident that we will take the crows this week. they are coming off a glorified training run at their home ground. when north applied the torch ever so briefly in the 3rd quarter, the crows press was broken down very easily and north scored at will. maybe they just took the foot off the pedal, but they looked to be under the pump to arrest the momentum

Dave relax it was round one witch many players in every team on the weekend cramped up and playing in humid warm conditions wouldn't of helped

Exciting form by the Pies and more importantly selection table dramas!

By Rnd 3 or 4 we could have:

Williams Frost Sinclair
Seedsman Reid Langdon
Freeman Swan Crisp
Broomhead Cloke Goldsack
Elliott White Fasolo

Grundy Pendels Adams

Int from: Witts Toovey de Goey Blair

Well IF De Goey is Dropped because of Concern about Running the Game Out. Oxley and Ramsey be also be Dopped

And yet I've dropped Ramsay, al beit for a different reason. And the less physically taxing conditions will work in Oxley's favour, but if he is still an iffy prospect, then that's why we have the substitute vest (even if I don't like it).

Out: Sidebottom, Ramsay
In: Dwyer, Gault
I would love to see In: Karnezis but I don't think so just yet...

Given he was an emergency last week, you'd think he's likely this week with Sidey out as he can play high forward/wing. I'd also like to see one more attacking player replacing one back [Ramsey].

You're not a fan of Dwyer?

What Sammy does he does well but at this stage I'm hoping players like Broomhead and Kennedy can go past him.

What I was disagreeing with was the claim he was one of the "toughest guys at the ball on the list" ... Which he clearly isn't.

If the side was playing in a final on the weekend and I had to pick a team from available players I'd have Dwyer as sub, FWIW.

Please make it clear for me then.

I say he is.

If Blair keeps playing like he did on Sat night you may have to change your signature ;)
