Great news.McGinnity will play every game this season. Calling it now.
Was just thinking the same. If he's considered depth by some-well that's we we are now after all the injuries.McGinnity will play every game this season. Calling it now.

He didn't play WAFL last week so I assume they rested him?I think we'll see either College or Lucas in for Tunbridge, no other changes. Lamb must have been dropped from the round 2 side for a reason. Perhaps the match committee don't think he's ready yet.

Exactly what I meant! There was no East Perth game last week.
I have a sneaking suspicion we will play him until at least darling is fully fit, to minimise the loss of defensive pressure that darling brings.McGinnity will play every game this season. Calling it now.
He can't play offensively like Cripps. He's a poor shot on goal, either set shot or on the run, a poor mark, hardly gets the ball and looks to pass it off even if in range of goal. Hard to see how such a limited player continues to get a game.I have a sneaking suspicion we will play him until at least darling is fully fit, to minimise the loss of defensive pressure that darling brings.
So we may see some more games from him. At the very least, he will chase and put pressure on the rebounding defenders. Plus, he can sledge with the best of them.
He needs to kick goals though in that role. No point tagging a rebounding defender if you aren't an actual threat-they will just run off with no fear of being caught the other way. He needs to play like cripps, who does all the defensive work, but knows how to get the ball offensively.
I don't see him as a really poor set shot, IMO- he's not a dead eye, but decent enough up to about 35-45m out. Generally though, disposal not great. He can't play offensively like Cripps. I think it's the incriminating photos. Must be.I don't see him as a really poor set shot, IMO- he's not a dead eye, but decent enough up to about 35-45m out. Generally though, disposal not great.
That's why I think he is a stop gap until darling does come back for that defensive pressure only. He's averaged 6 disposal a game this year, but 4.5 tackles, plus a goal assist per game. Which leads me to believe that's his role. Hold it in to our forward line, if you do get it, hand it off to someone who can finish the work.
U
We have been super efficient inside 50 so far this year. 48 scores from 90 inside 50's this year, so it may not be the best 2 games to assess a defensive forward when we are finishing so well.
Or, it's a case of some incriminating photos which seem to have passed on to the new coach.![]()

Who would you replace McGinnity with?I just don't know how you can only get 6 possessions in a game of football, with 82% game time? I know everyone says he works hard but to me, you're not working hard enough if you only get possessions. I'd say his opponent wouldnt be playing very tight so if we have the ball in space with a very limited chance of causing a turnover then he should be presenting.
The stats below are horrendous and he should be delisted based on these stats alone

The other problem is teams just don't need to think about him at all. When Selwood was tagging, I'm sure they spent at least a little bit of time talking the team through how to help out the player getting tagged, making sure they limit Selwoods damage going the other way as he could also rack up 25 pos on the rebound and the person that would most likely get tagged I'm sure watched a bit of footage.
The coaches would actually believe they are playing against a team of 21
I would give the following players a couple of games and tell them to play tight to limit the impact of their opponent but also to provide an option when we have clear possessionWho would you replace McGinnity with?
I reckon these guys are you most realisitc options without affecting the structure of the team too much. I would even add Duggan to that list because playing that position may be less taxing on his fitness than a true midfield/wing role. Its a shame about Tunbridge and Hutchings because they would also offer a midfield rotation which McGinnity (correct me if I'm wrong) doesnt offer. I would bring in Lamb/Colledge for McGinnity; Lamb kicked a goal and had ten possessions against the Bulldogs, although he may have played a different role.I would give the following players a couple of games and tell them to play tight to limit the impact of their opponent but also to provide an option when we have clear possession
Lamb
Colledge
Yeo - Rosa to HB, Duggan to the Wing
Rosa
Shep - Rosa to HB, Duggan to the wing
Tunbridge - I realise he can't now he's injured
Hutchings - Injured
Cripps - Cripps to play tighter, Lamb to play the free roaming half forward
Lucas
Imo, you just can't afford to have players who play 82% game time getting 6 possessions week in week out.

I don't know if bringing Shep into the forward line again would be good for his development. We are just starting to see him playing well at HB now, moving him up the ground might be more negative than positive. But I agree that he has the tools to do well there. Anything would be better than McGinnity right now.I think Shep could also quite easily fill the role without changing the structure to much. He usually plays on the least damaging forward. He's a good mark, quick on the lead, decent kick for goal and can also be added to the midfield rotation. I was quite impressed with him on a number of occasions late last year with his clearance work.
Surely McG needs to be droppedNow we know who is injured and who isnt i would bring in:
Out: Tunbridge
In: Lamb
Would be fine if College was given a go too.
Surely McG needs to be shot
Bench: Mcginnity,Sheed, Nelson. Sub: Duggan
