With all the injuries id do with

In: Lamb, Colledge
Out: Tunbridge, McGinnity.

With the injuries I was half thinking of keeping McGinnity in but he doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the team injuries or not.

That being said I have readied myself for McGinnity staying in the team, for whatever reason.

There isn't a single reason to justify his spot in the 22.

Defensive forwards actually score goals and put pressure on their direct opponent as well as run with them. McGinnity just keeps his opponent to 20-25 disposals and has 0 impact on the match himself.

I wonder what stops journos from asking the hard questions. I would love if they asked about McGinnity and our medical staff

Who would you replace McGinnity with?
Hill is another one who we haven't considered in the discussion above.

I think Hill is a hack, but he would surely be more effective than Paddy.

My point in saying McGinnity will play every game was in part a response to Dark Sharks, who said I was being silly in comparing Paddy's low output with Karpany's because Paddy will not be getting a game anyway.

It's apparent that the coaches consider him a better option than a player (Lucas) they just upgraded from the rookie list, as well as a guy (Hill) who has performed just as well over the past few seasons.

He's been able to retain his spot in the past despite having minimal output, and it's a bit of a ****ing concern for our near future.

Fact: McGinnity has played 83 games of AFL football

Stop. You're scaring me :p

I'd be happy for Hill or Colledge - in fact, almost anyone else instead of McGinnity to play.

Hadn't even considered Hill...He does have pretty good pressure and is good for a goal or 2 which is better than Mcginnity. I think if Hill was told to do a job on one of their players i think he would do it pretty well.

Its certainly a question thats been on my mind - why arent we considering Hill for selection? Sure some people consider him a bit of a downhill skiier at times, but he can kick goals when required and provides a run-with pressure role (and for mine he is probably better at it than McGinnity). Is it an attitude thing? Fitness thing? It just seemed like he used to get a regular spot in the 22 where he was a decent addition (not a stand-out, but capable), and now for all we know he's up and died.

Paddy has photos. There's no other explanation.

I must be the only bloke hereabouts who likes McGinnity in the team. Makes no sense to drop him.

-Hill is an attacking forward has zero defensive pressure and goes missing.
-Lecras is an attacking forward with little defensive pressure.
-We can't afford to play both.
-McGinnity applies good pressure, generates stop plays in our forward half where NicNat is lethal, causes turnovers and reduces quick rebounds out of attack = many more opportunities for key forwards like Kennedy and Lecras and fewer coast to coast goals going back the other way.
-Lecras is a much better offensive forward than Hill.
-So Lecras gets the obvious start as offensive forward, McGinnity as the obvious defensive forward.

It balances itself out, we get sound offense and defence and its working. Our forward line is not a problem, no reason to change. Especially not against the Dockers.

I think in a way Adam Simpson answers that question inadvertently on the abc Saturday Agenda interview. He was asked about Wellingham and responded that last year he hadn't adapted to Modern Footy and would be a liability in positioning himself appropriately when we didn't have the ball. I think McGinnity is in the team because he must be really good at following Simpson's plan in regards to team structure when we don't have that ball, which is massive in modern day footy (I'm guessing, never played myself). Some people may say that his positioning is not that important but obviously the coaching staff feel different.

I also do like McGinnity. It would be nice if he could hit the scoreboard more often, thats all.

He would be the sort of player I would be- short, terrible for the most part with ball in hand, but would give my all for this great football club.

Lamb for Tunners, Bennell should get a reprieve until Xellis gets up. No other changes required until Waterman gets a couple more games, hopefully at the expense of Badger. Nobody else really banging down the door.

Its not so much that nobody's banging down the door, more that they keep getting injured while banging down said door. Might be time to invest in some of those hippy bead curtains instead of doors down at WCE HQ

I think McGinnity will go to Hill this weekend so not hang around the forward line as much. Its between Lamb, Hill and Colledge to replace Tunbridge. If we go with Lamb and dont drop Duggan we will be going in with a very green team this weekend.

Well his job on Friday would have been to curtail Yarran - didn't really see him get that done. At least someone else would offer something the other way.

Rosa causing a turn over resulting in a Kennedy goal and Lycett squashing Yarran had more of a negative effect on his game than the Mcshitity tag.

Really? Yarran has killed us in recent times had zero influence in a game where the supply of footy in his region was high. Honestly, before the game if someone said McGinnity would hold Yarran to 6 kicks and seven handballs (no goals or assists) you would take that every day of the week. I'm amazed people can look at McGinnitys low possession count last week and totally ignore the crucial role he's played on the oppositions key rebounding defender.

Are you kidding? Yarran was running amok on McGinnity with him nowhere in sight while Carlton where up and about. It was only once we started to get control of the midfield a bit more that Yarran started to disappear. Anyone quoting McGinnitys game on Friday night as a good game and a reason for him to stay is tripping big time.

As others have said he offers nothing. He runs around like a chook with his head cut off, applies little to no pressure on his opponent and turns the ball over regularly when he has it. Delist immediately and bring in someone who actually knows how to football.

I believe Clem Smith modelled his game on McSpuddity's

It doesn't matter what you do, you need to still be able to get your own ball. Yarran still doubled McGinnity possessions playing in the BACKLINE where it's meant to be him looking after someone
