Changes vs Freo

as much as I think consistency is important where possible personally I am still far from sold on Hooker, while he hasnt done anything that horrendous lately and has been solid he has been releived of the responsibility of playing on the number 1 forwards of the opposition but still he has looked bloody slowwwww, especially when playing against medium forwards against Melbourne. If hes going to be pitted against a Mayne etc Id rather we moved in one of Pears/Hardingham into the side, probably pears as his form in the VFl has been stronger to this point I beleive.

If you go by 'The Hanger' then Kommer will certainly be playing and will be expected to have a big game, although bombers reason for him starting as the sub against melbourne was pretty ridiculous

Not really, he was sore but they still wanted him in the team so the sub was the perfect place for him. He still recieves more AFL experience while allowing him to get up for the Freo game.

Look at the nba, 82 games a season,often 3 or 4 in a week!

If you scroll down the bottom of the link below, it seems the most NBA players cover is a bit over 4km per game. Many would be under 4km. A lot of this would be not much more than walking or a very slow jog as well. I think AFL players would be around 10-14km based on some GPS tracking they were showing during the games last weekend. Plus there is the obvious difference in physicality of the games.

Yeah i agree that the sub role was perfect for him as it did allow him to stay fresh for the game this week but i highly doubt as an afl footballer he was still tired from a game that was 16 days ago

Had completely forgotten the Adelaide game was so long ago. Does seem a bit strange now thinking about it, they could have just planned to sub him out during the third like they did with Zaka in round 1.

Ridiculous to think we played 1 game (round 1) in 27 days
I'm happy the way bomber spoke about him though, cant wait to see him play back in his home state and have a massive one !

It's a different sport, basketball players aren't going to cover 12+ km in a game. You can't physically recover from an AFL game fast enough to play that many games. Not to mention that AFL games are usually more bruising than basketball games.

The length of the breaks does have an impact, which is greater in the later parts of the season.

In Basketball the stars play on average 9 minutes a quarter. That's 36 a match. AFL stars play that by half time, with much higher ground coverage and much higher contact.
