The Buttman is very cool under pressure. Definitely best 22 material.

He plays the Banners role from 06 very well. Midfielder turned backman. Started and ending his career with the team challenging for a flag. So many similarities.

We need Yeo to play in the midfield this week as preparation for finals footy.

Sammy Butler is fine to play when he has a role, and is not playing on quick small forwards.

He gets exposed then, quick forwards pressure his kicking and he gives up crucial goals.

Match Sammy on a medium forward and he will be fine.

This is true, however we still don't have anyone who can handle the quick small forwards..

we thought we found one in Bennell last year but he's easily exposed, and Nelson I don't see as a small defender for his whole career. I'd say good small defenders are probably the rarest commodity in the AFL?

Not happy Nelson getting a game over Newman.
Forward out defender in too many defenders in that squad.

Would of been perfect game for Newman to get a full game, and show us
something special, he is different to all our current forwards.

Would also give him confidence if we need him in the finals due to injury.

Can only think it's fitness related? Newman went OK in his short stints but maybe the coaches don't think he's got a full AFL game in him.

Even Wellingham can play midfield if needed also .....I like the flexibility of our side now ....it's not rigid like it was in the worsfold years later on

Yeo can play various roles and so can rosa .....so too Nelson ....and it just adds flex ability

Nelson, Hurn, Wellingham, Butler, Ellis, McGovern, Sheppard all down back that is 7 defenders

Our midfield looks good - Masten, Shuey, Gaff, Yeo, Sheed, Lecras, Priddis, Rosa, Hutching, Nic Nat

Hickey Omitted helps us enormously in allowing Yeo to have a crack back at midfield.

Shepp took down J Riewoldt, I dare say he might get a crack at whoever plays highest up the ground out of Bruce/Riewoldt

I still shake my head that it has come to this and yet I have full faith that Shepp can probably do it. This is the guy whose biggest claim pre this season was getting KO'd by a Crowbot with a pretty nasty elbow, now suddenly he is our most consistent defender this season.

Very true - one of the biggest positives from last week was to see him play well while so much of the rest of the team embarrassed themselves (or weren't trying if you are being kind).

Pretty happy with the 22 and really the only change before finals would be a fit Schofield in for Nelson

As for the Riewoldt match up it depends where he matches up. When he plays midfield I feel Yeo and or Rosa can run with him but as a forward someone like Schofield would be a great match up for him. Maybe Sheppard gets the job when Riewoldt plays high forward although severely undersized.
