While watching the game, I was disgusted at the five minutes Brian Taylor and the other commentators spent slagging off Adelaide Supporters. One off the cuff joke I could tolerate, but Brian Taylor went on and on about it bringing out all the stereo types. I would be nothing but disappointed if Trigg didn't write a strong letter of complaint to 7 on that commentary. We didn't deserve that. I have never seen it done before to any club even Collingwood fans.

It was a bizarre telecast.

What I find strange about BT is he is clearly a wealthy "lower class" yet finds the time to judge others when he is a prime example of a rich bogan.

What about the compliment to the coaching group. Said something like we are very well coached and that they've been there for a long time or something similar. Was he taking the piss? Our results over the last 5 years hardly demonstrate that the long-term assistants are particularly flash. Seemed a back-handler to me, not that I care too much, he's a tool either way.

Sadly once a tool like BT always a tool - for me it's channel 7 it really reflects badly on... To have such a poor commentator who appears to have free reign to slag off on the fans who keep him in a job...

BT used to infuriate me but then I warmed to his sense of humour. Love the way he takes the piss with Richo and the way Richo gives it back to him. I've seen quite a bit of the replay but must have missed the Adelaide jibes, but meh, it's only BT being BT. Likeable tool.

It's all well and good to say stop being sensitive or over reactive or whatever, but the fact is his comments about our coaching staff and form line were grossly ignorant and uninformed and it's not a good look for the commentary team or the network coverage as a whole.

I personally was not offended by anything he said including the stuff about the crowd, he seems to do that in most games he calls regardless of location.

The comments relating to the AFC just highlights that how far detached some of the so called experts on the east coast are from the rest of the country.

If anything bothered me about the coverage it was that they spent large swathes of time having a conversation amongst themselves (with play continuing in the background) like they were in a bar. I'd rather they called the game if that's what they were paid to do - it's obviously a bit hard to be in on their jokes when you're just sitting at home in the lounge

They don't commentate football in the traditional sense anymore. Now its like a bunch of mates sitting around tele having a few beers and making comment. Compare the commentary with the soccer World Cup and its embarrassingly of a low standard.

But he has form with that stuff. Remember Kardinia Park's first night game with the lights? The countdown clock didn't work and he spent the whole night dissing the town of Geelong saying they just got electricity for the first time but they broke the countdown clock in the process... etc

Must say i didn't actually mind BT. Maybe because i can't stand der-wayne and having him commentate most crows games is annoying.

BT had a great dynamic with Bradshaw, Lyon, Chief and Spud on Triple M back in the day, but he doesn't quite work on Channel 7 for mine. Richo is ok, but Lingy and Darcy are too bland (Darcy also being an insufferable knob doesn't help).

Speaking of insufferable knobs, who's a bigger flog - Mark Stevens or Jon Ralph? Can't believe Channel 7 and Foxtel actually put them on TV every game.

This is what annoys me. People give shit to Bruce and Dennis for frothing over particular players etc but at least they mostly commentate the games and don't just have a chat while play is going on. Anthony Hudson is okay as well in that he actually tries to commentate the games.

this sums it up. As part of Channel 7's whole team he's pretty average, but to roll him out as the big show for Saturday Night footy is a complete joke.

"he says look at me, I'm Eddie! I can do that, because I'm Eddie!" I mean wtf, honestly. The thing I was happy with though is that common sense prevailed and they were all over the appalling umpiring decisions that were made.

EDIT: the crux of the issue is that all our commentators call the game as fans, not as professionals. Need to take a leaf out of the impartial book from American leagues like the NBA and NFL.

These the same guys that yell GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL and jizz all over the place on the odd occasion something happens? Having said that...

I think there are people in here that could commentate a game of footy far better than the majority of these ex-players. It always surprises me how little some of them know about teams they are about to comment on. I'd like to see it be more professional than the fan/fap fest we see now.

I guess we've been lucky in a sense that in the past 2 and a half seasons, we've only had to put up with BT once for our games prior to last night (and that was the 2012 PF), but he is an embarrassment to Channel 7, to the AFL, and to sports commentators in general.

Last week he was abusing a security ground at Spotless Stadium.

I think there are people in here that could commentate a game of footy far better than the majority of these ex-players. It always surprises me how little some of them know about teams they are about to comment on. I'd like to see it be more professional than the fan/fap fest we see now.

i wonder if the quality of the commentary is why people are turning off the game. I really struggle to watch any game of football that has Dwayne Russell in the commentary.
