When we got him, like Hampson, I thought it was to covertly tank without tanking and yet we still made the finals.

Truely confused with our list managers now!!

think he has good days and bad days. when he's playing well we are generally playing well. Can't just write him off as a dud because he's definitely made us a better side than we were before we got him. Then again is he holding back a young bloke like a darrou from making it. Hard to say but I think he's been serviceable most of the time.

What was Chaplin like as a club leader at Port?

Some players you just want a,way from other players, like Heuskas.

Others you are just Jack of. Krakouer to GC, and Burgoyne to Hawthorn. Ever the laziest one way runner there was.

Others you truly, genuinely wish well and have zero animosity to, like Danyle Pearce. It was a great salary and an opportunity to set his family up,,and he and us needed a change.

With Chaplin, yes, he did have good voice true.

The sms thing was immaterial. The truth was as fans he bothered us so much because he slipped over a lot, but basically, behaved like Tarzan, but played like Jane.

When he was needed to be that leader, he was invisible.

I think if you asked 1000 of us on BF, you'd get 900 Tarzan Jane's, and 300 say it's only a matter of time before the fans see why we made NO attempt to keep him.

You asked about his leadership, he was in the leadership team his last two seasons. That GF summed up all that had gone wrong with Port, we had moved from our hard roots. Chaplin was a symptom as was Pearce.

I could easily look back over the last month and find several potentially game saving marks

Probably, but Chaplin would be holding down a FB position for the Maggies in the SANFL!!!

I dont think he would push out any one of Trengove, Carlile, Hombsch, Jonas from our current backline.
