A real dillema hangs over the Geelong selection committee should Chappy be fit this week (and I'm sure he will!) Who are we going to drop back to the ressies. Unless we have an injury someone is going to be very very unlucky.

Cameron Thurley - Could not possibly be dropped
Shannon Burns - maybe but would be very unlucky
Charlie Gardiner - possibility, but would be stiff
Steve Johnson - quiet against the blues but he could not be dropped surely
Dave Johnson - again would be very unlucky!

Your thoughts

Midfielder it would be so

Cameron Thurley - Could not possibly be dropped, but will be. He has been good but is still an al-junior.

How can Thurley not be possibly dropped yet Byrnes be a possibility? Byrnes is an integral part of our team as it stands. He shouldn't even be considered to be dropped. Thurley may have kicked well in his two games, but don't let that blind you.

Unfortunately, for what it's worth, Charlie will probably be given the flick.

Nah Thommo likes Prince. Also dont forget he held down CHF for most of the bulldogs game and did it damn well. This weekend he didnt have the greatest game but who cares when we spank a team by 70 points. He could have tucked himself in and had a nap down in the forward pocket and we still would have cr@ped all over Carlton. He stands up when we need him.

Fact of the matter is, it's hard to find another player to drop for Chapman.

No one from our team really deserves to be dropped going on current form, but the competition for spots suggests otherwise. I can argue why Charlie should be in, but players like him who aren't entrenched in the first 18-19 are under pressure everytime they don't perform.

Me and GeeCat had this discussion in another thread already, so in summation Chalrie being dropped means Playfair has to play a full game, which he probably isnt up to, and King would have to ruck nearly all the game. Having said that if hes not in form hes not important to the structure. Chapmans in the best 22 which means someone is not, and wil be dropped. Whoever it is has to deal with it, play well in the VFL and then take their oppurtunity when it comes next time.

A very good problem to have.

H played nearly the entire game at CHF on friday night.I think he was only off the ground for the last 5 minutes.

Can he do it 2 weeks in a row?
Being a professional sportsman youd want to think so

Ahem, Gardiner = 190cm, Chapman = 179cm (in his boots - I've stood next to him and he'd only be 175cm in his thongs at best)

Charlie = our second CHF, Chapman = fantastic tackler and ball winner at ground level with great finishing skills. Good on a lead. Too small for pack marking.

Charlie takes CHF if H is down. Chapman cannot.

They do not play the same role and never will.

And until Chapman can play CHF Charlie will never be dropped to make way for him.

However, I may yet be proven wrong :D

Gardiner would be my tip.
Mooney could be an outside chance, he hasn't been terribly effective, he seems to be there for intimidation more than anything.

No one thinks Ricco is even a 10% chance of being dropped?
I'd certainly rather have have Steve Johnson in the team.

Personally, I think Thurley will be VERY unlucky and will miss out. If you were being critical (which I'm not - I've been very impressed) you could say that 3 or 4 or his goals over the past 2 weeks have come late in the game, when the result was beyond doubt. I think he'll make way for Chappy, but will be assured by Bomber that - should one of the forwards get injured or lose form - he will be straight back in.

Or someone will pull up sore during the week, and make the decision easy.

Nah, Ricco is way too useful. As a burst player off the bench he has been supurb, not to mention the experience he brings to the side. I'm not too sure who we'd take out for Chappy at the moment, Thurley maybe but you can't fault his games so far! Hmmm

Stu

I think Thurley will make way for Chappy this week if Chappy comes up. Unlucky, but not sure if Thurley is up with the pace of the firsts just yet, saw him get caught a few times on Friday night out on the wing. The two runs in will do him the world of good though, great position to be in Cats!!!

I understand where you are coming from, but i think that will come with experience. He is too used to VFL level and needs to step it up to AFL level.

I just dont know if you could really drop a bloke who kicks 4 goals??

DJ can't go he is doing just enough to stay in.

More to do with his poor peripheral vision than anything else.

Thurley has taken his chances well, but i saw him get outrun by Lance Whitnall on Friday night.

Not a great sign when you're 6ft in shoes.

You're a disgrace, Phat.

Your avatars have gone from outrageously good to absolute, homosexual rubbish.

Just crap mate.
