Sack Houllier! Sack him! Sack him!

:D

Votes...

5 Kewell
4 Smicer
3 Owen (for actually getting the penalty on the first go)
2 DUDEK (great game from the big man)
1 Rob Styles

Well played Charlton - fact was they played too well. Lisbey was excellent and our back 4 and Dudek a shambles.

What was Dudek doing conceding that corner for the 2nd goal? Finnan was ordinary again - in fact the entire back 4 struggled.

Murphy and Gerrard are no where near the form of last year. Smicer was OK until injured, nice goal.

Owen scored again, he is doing his job. Heskey mmmmm.

Problem is, we don't have a 3rd striker to throw on if needed. I reckon Houllier would be regretting loaning out Neil Mellor.

Oh well, the bubble had to burst sometime, it wasn't like we were playing great football anyway.

Very worried about next week.

Isn't Alvaro Recoba being pursued?

Very disappointing loss, I don't think we can sustain playing Diouf, Kewell and Smicer all in the starting lineup, as they don't do enough defensively IMO. Biscan has done alright, but the sooner Henchoz returns the better.

As for the Recoba link, I've heard it a few times, apparently they've offered to loan him to us, with an option to purchase at the end of the season in exchange for first refusal on Owen.

Inter alerted as Cisse's Liverpool admission puts Owen on notice
tribalfootball.com - September 19, 2003

Speculation that Inter Milan's Alvaro Recoba could be offered to Liverpool for striker Michael Owen is gathering pace in Italy.
Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse's admission that he will be joining Liverpool next year has fueled reports that Owen could be made available in the summer.

Inter president Massimo Moratti is a huge fan of Owen and has reportedly already offered Recoba to Liverpool in January for first refusal on the England ace should he be made available.

Owen is yet to open talks on a new contract, with his current now having less than two years to run.

Lisbey's third goal was magical. The other two were pretty ordinary goals - it was bad defense and bad goal keeping that gave Lisbey his first two goals. There wasn't a real lot Dudek could do about the third goal, though.

Kewell, as always, was setting goals up, but no one was there to capitalise. Having said that, Kewell's pass to set up Biscan was an absolute pearler. Unfortunately, Kewell should have had a couple more assists next to his name.

I think it's fair to say that it's going to come down to three teams - Arsenal, Chelsea, Man. United.

The difference between LFC and the real title contenders such as ManYoo and Arsenal that when they are drawing 2:2 they go up a gear looking for winner.

We stroll around with no real purpose. The only time we played with purpose was at 1:2 and 2:3.

And can someone tell Heskey that when Kewell goes to the by-line it means that there may be a cross he can get his head or foot too. How many times did the ball go through Charlton's area with no LFC player closing in?

And finally let's get rid of Heskey because all he does is cause us to revert to the long ball game.

When we went a goal up, i thought the players started to get comfortable. They were stuffing around with the ball, trying to pull off fancy stuff. This is the main gripe i have with my club at the moment. They relax. Hyypia was pedestrian last night.

Oh well .. not going to dwell on it. Long season.

The guy plays for England, why would you want to get rid of him?

Selling off international players.. gee I dunno ;)

The fact that Heskey is an international says a lot about English football.;)

I'd even prefer Bobby D. up front provided he left everyone's mother and and all the geese at home.:D

Liverpool Match Ratings
5- Rob Styles (intimidated by big name players, was starstruck like many referees are at times)
4- Harry Kewell (i don't think he has been brilliant for liverpool thus far but IMO was his best game for the club
3- Vladamir Smicer ( a goal was playing alirght then houllier subbed him)
2- Stevie Gerrard (was ok gets in Top 5 due to lack of good layers for Liverpool.
1- Michael Owen (did score albeit a penatly)

MIA- Diouf (Has been Liverpool's best so far this season but went missing on Sunday)
Hyypia ( He was shocking, possibly missing his partnership with Henchoz)
Finnan- Got forward alot but his delivery was terrible
Riise- Was annilhated down the right hand side and was ineffective when he got forward
Dudek- Has been very good thus fat this season but didn't have a very good game

You must be getting tired of jumping on and off the Liverpool bandwagon Kara.

And the persistent harping on about Heskey is really counter productive. He is an England international and if memory serves me correctly The Pools most expensive purchase!

How much has blinky Bill actually spent on players? GBP 100+ million for one Charity Shield, one FA Cup (the single greateset act of travisty ever seen on a footbal pitch!), two Coca Cola Cups and one UEFA Cup.

At least you still have Real:p

Our back 4 were terrible, even the ever reliable Hyppia looked lost. With our weakened backline I dont think we should be playing 3 attacking midfielders. Once Carragher and Henchoz return, the backline looks more stable so we can afford 3 attacking midfielders but right now we get hurt on the rebound and in the midfield in general.

Look at Lisbie's third goal. He was allowed to run the entire length of the field and fire at goal unopposed?? Where was the defensive pressure from the midfield?

Cant wait until Hamaan returns. Oh and play TLT! Put Heskey on the bench!

Terrible stuff from Liverpool aswell. Biscan was our best defender and that just about sums up how badly our back 4 went earlier today.

I think they were all too busy watching Owen take his chances.

Maybe you should email Gerard Houlahoop and show him your Championship Manager tactics. Chuck in Owen's Fifa 2003 (XBox) goalscoring record to remind Mickey to keep taking those chances??
