Welcome to Phil and Pauls Chateau watch 2011.

Post in this thread the instant Phil or Paul mention a chateau during any stage during the 2011 TDF. Bonus points if you remember any of the history of the most recently mention chateau.

AS an aside you can also play Phil and Paul bingo, hours of fun for the whole family

Here is a warm up to get us all excited for the REAL reason we watch the Tour...

i know the thread's a laugh, but seriously, the TDF is as much a 3 week tourism advertisement for France as it a competitive event. the ASO and the french tourism authority have deals in place, telecast directors (uncontrolled by Phil & Paul or any other commentator who just commentate on the feed provided to them) control the vision and commentators are given info sheets to read based on the main french broadcaster's vision and the historic and landmark highlights on the route of the day's stage. whether it's a Liggett/Sherwin hobby is secondary to what they have to do in their role. it's not unlike footy commentators promoting the next BS reality show to air on their network.

While this is certainly true, I'd say the chateaus have a fair bit more cultural value/interest than Australian reality tv programs.

As ad breaks go, they are pretty damn good.

Chateau de Trevarez "the pink chateau" with central heating and electricity. Bombed during 1944. Bought and refurbished by the "department du finestere"

Don't forget the under floor water pipes to radiate heat. Why would you have that AND ducted heating? Guess those big airy chateau's would be like ice caverns, but still...

Is it just me or are there far more churches this year?

Nup not just you, seems like a lot more churches. Might change up a bit heading into Normandy tomorrow.

Epic chateau action then! They did about three laps of the place with the choppa. Chateau de Chenonceau, rebuilt after being burnt to the ground, built on the river itself for a better view. Louise of Lorraine lived there, the white queen. Filled with art treasures.

That's all I could remember off the top of my head. The wiki on this place is huge.
