Earlier today on another thread a few of us were discussing how bad our bench cover was this year in comparison to last year, so I thought I'd start this thread to list players that are non rookie regulars in their teams best 22 with half decent (70+) SC scoring records from previous years as possible sideways/upgrade/downgrade trades for some of our shit or non playing bench rookies.

1. Jeffrey Garlett $233,800
Position: Fwd
B/E: 23
2014 Average: 48.2 (handful of green vests)
Previous years averages: 2010: 71.6 - 2011: 72.9 - 2012: 73.1 - 2013: 78.2

2. Jeremy Cameron $ 256,900
Position: Fwd
B/E: 105
2014 Average: 53.0 (inj affected)
Previous years averages: 2012: 62.4 - 2013: 72.7

3. Jack Grimes $320,000
Position: Def/Mid
B/E: 69
2014 Average: 73.3 (role change?)
Previous years averages: 2009: 94.4 2010: 88.0 - 2011: 78.0 - 2012: 88.3 - 2013: 80.9

feel free to add to list...

Melsksham. Will play more midfield and have better job security as Watson is out. Will drop to 240k next week, and when played midfield in second half of last year got 3 scores of 100+ and 4 scores of 80-100. One to consider.

L. Henderson. DPP, averaged 84 last year and only 300k. If he and Carlton gets into form, could be good.

Paparone. 313k , has some scores of 90+ this year , getting better each week (as are the Lions) and is a forward.

But mainly.
STEFAN MARTIN
ruck and forward. got 112 last week and will play as number 1 ruckman, only 242k. Cheap cheap cheap.

Yeah Martin would be handy as a R3/F7.

Cameron could be interesting, reckon he'll get a few bags so he can get some pretty big scores. You just have to pick it.

slightly more expensive but Dave Myers.

If fit is an automatic selection and should be the main beneficiary of Watson not being there. capable of putting up 90s consistently from here on out imo.

Infact, apart from a sub effected 31 and a 60 where he played more back flank on goodes he's yet to go below 83

Lauchie Henderson is an interesting one. His D/F would come in handy later in the year coupled with a cheapie D8 or F8 at the other end much like some of us did with him, Staker, RHenderson & Oxley last year. Has been used at both ends of the field this year, just like last year but been in terrible form getting beaten at both ends can't pinpoint why, but is a class player and will come good at some point.

Same Rowe (330k) R/F
playing as Carlton's #1 or #2 KP Defender this year. Has played every game and is currently averaging 66. Last 5 games is averaging 73 not as cheap as Stef Martin, but better long term JS IMHO. Could do worse than having big Sam as your R3/F8 for the rest of the year.

How so with West out for the season and Leuy 6-8 weeks away?

You just answered your own question. Leuey back in 6-8 weeks = no ruck bench cover during SC finals when Stef makes way while Rowe is still playing CHB

Anthony Miles will play every week till the end of the season, wish I was in a position to swap him in for an under performing rookie but no chance. Wouldn't surprise to see him average 85+ for the rest of the season with a few big scores thrown in. Will attend a lot of centre bounces and is a CP, clearance and tackle specialist.

Would be a perfect M9 to last out the season if you have the cash and trades available.

i don't lump Miles in with the Grigg's, Houli's and Petterd's in Richmond's great pantheon of recycled hacks.

He's 22 and was always going to struggle to get games over all those first round picks. He's actually got a decent future in front of him if you take out the fact that he's at Richmond

I have McDonald as my DEF cover, Taylor in MID and Grundy as RUCK cover.

I have had them since the start of the year and am happy for them to sit there to cover my premos. They all seem to have good job security but I'm not sure if these guys are worth getting in now though.

As for my forward cover - don't ask - I still have the likes of Shenton and Ambrose on the field have to fix that up before I think about cover...
