Cheapest PS3

It's probably a weird way to go about it, but if you buy a 3D Bravia (40", 46" or 55") it comes with a free PS3 and GT5. All up, I got my TV for about 2200 and it came with about $1000 of bonus stuff thrown in.
yeh, i've gotten my 2 ps3s through those deals

I'm waiting until December to get my PS3 120GB Slim :D they price will go down around Christmas don't worry

No, they won't. Most retailers actually lose around $10 selling a PS3 console.

They just think they'll recoup their losses by you buying a few games with it when you pick it up.

The PS3 is not a very profitable console. The 360 is.

Isn't it sony that lose not the retailer? Could be both I guess.

Just did this, I never thought the 55 inch would look so much bigger than our old 42..

But so far its a real pain to redeem our ps3 and free extras, firstly the store didn't give us any information on how to redeem it, so we just went on the website later and had to enter credit card, address, etc etc, and now we have to send our receipt/serial number cutout from the box to NSW and pay a $40 postage fee..

Why don't they just ship a ps3 in the TV box to begin with?? Ah well, it'll be worth it when its all done I suppose.

Shouldve just bought from the Sony Centre. That's what I did, you walk out with the TV and the PS3.

Although, starting to regret the 40". It's amazing how quickly you adjust to the size. Starting to think my living room couldve accommodated the 46" quite comfortably.

Not anymore, PS3's are sold at a gain (from Sony's position) these days. Early on they were losing a considerable amount per console though.

I have a family member who works at GAME and he said they often have deals which are cheaper than the cost price of a PS3 unit.

Them throwing in a 'free' game in a more expensive bundle dealas opposed to just a console is actually a way of them breaking even.

The only real money in the PS3 market is from games and accessories. Wholesale prices of new games are about $60-70 in AUS....so with the crazy deals we're all getting these days it's quite obvious the market is extremely competitive :thumbsu:

Console only as I will buy most of my games of OGS or Play-Asia

Unless you get a crazy good deal on a stand alone console you should just buy the cheapest bundle and flog off the rest of it.

IIRC EB had 160gb stand alone for 440ish (I think) in stores a while back and they have it currently on their website for 464.

The 499 bundle comes with 3 games and a HDMI cable. You could probably get about 40-50 dollars trade value out of them or more if you sell on ebay.

I got a pretty sweet pack in September last year from Big W. Don't know if they still do it, 120gb ps3, HDMI cable, 3 Blu-ray movies and 35 inch Bravia LCD for $1100. Pretty sweet deal!

Got mine for nothing (my missus won it as a door prize). We had a choice between a PS3 or a 360 - it wasn't hard to decide. :D:)
So what are you saying? Wait because one day you might win one

Definatley buying a PS3 on Saturday but not sure where the cheapest would be. Anybody know where I could get a 160GB cheap?
Check your local H/N, some stores are still doing the 160g for $398.

I have an old PS2 laying around and Signstar mics and game with it. How much would I get for trading it in?

virtually nothing at a shop.

I sold my PS2 + controllers, memory cards, adapter for 4-player games, stand and all my games (about 25) for $150 to a family friend in 2009.

I'd barely get half that at EB.

you wouldn't get as much, but it would be more than half

Had a customer trade a PS2, and 30 games yesterday, they got $119

Add and edge card and suddenly you have $138. Not that far off

In the end, its all about what types of games you have. things like GTA and the such get SFA, cos we sell em for $5, as we have thousands of copies
