Bond back to Punt Rd
28 September 2002 Herald Sun
AAP

WESTERN Bulldogs assistant coach Chris Bond is expected to return to Punt Rd to take up an assistant's position.

Bond, who played 100 games with Richmond and also played at Carlton and captained Fremantle, has been with the Dogs for three seasons. He coached affiliate VFL club Werribee for two years.

Greg Hutchison is expected to vacate his spot as an assistant coach to become the Tigers' football operations manager.

I dont agree. We need coaching assistants who have played/assisted at successful clubs. Our club needs to change its culture. Bond is not the answer. Why dont they at least get lambert back, who has been on the brisbane panel for the last couple of years.

That's actually a good point i was thinking the same thing when Matthew Knights was signed by the Port Magpies as an assistant coach/football operations person. They won't to get back to being successful but they sign a player who in his VFL/AFL carreer only played in a couple of final series.

I heard that Rohde was very keen to retain the sevices of bondy and was intending to make an offer to him so that he would stay. I suppose bondy would way up both offers and make his decision.

Because I dont believe getting Bond is a positive step. We need assistants who have had lots of finals experience or played with clubs with winning cultures. Were did Bond play the bulk of his career?

because

Fair enough diggler... if not bondy who in your opinion would be a worthy candidate that richmond could seriously consider, whether that be at AFL standard or other comps? Give us your wish list within reason fo course.

Well on the grapevine I heard Craig Lambert could be coming back to Melbourne. Surely he must of learnt something under Leigh Matthews. And totally of the subject, hopefully the new facilities at Punt Road will be ready soon, because our players need to seriously pump some iron over pre season. I've seen the current gym and its no wonder our team is full of malnourished players.

Schwass, Bickley, Salmon, Long, Blakey, Guy McKenna .... what are all of these guys doing next year. Fresh ideas, fresh from the game, well-spoken, all have tasted p'ship success ...

Quick !!! While there's no salary cap on our coaching staff !!!

He's staying at the Dogs now. He'll be an assistant to Peter Rohde and won't be the Werribee coach next year. One of the changes announced on the official Bulldogs site today.

Thats great news that Bondy is not coming back at the club. We dont need any underachivers like him, Gale or Knights in a coaching role, period.

Interseting to note that Miller on 3aw tonight said that the club would have discussions with Brittan to take over as an assistant coach with hutchy moving aside even though melboune had already formally offered brittan a position .
