What an absolute gun.
Didn't kick a goal but had 19 touchs and had 5 goals assists, and crashed through packs all night, I thought he was superb.
Also his ground level work and his "frontal pressure" was great.

Keep it up Dawesy.

Looks like he Belongs now at AFL Level and Really helps Cloke out.

Though his Handpassing can be intresting at times and his overhead marking is a work in Progress.

Still has big Upside

Really deserved a goal or 2 for his efforts last night, played quite well. In saying that, he still gets pushed under the ball way to much, and against the other premiership contenders (ala. Geelong, St. Kilda) we're gonna need him to clunk those overhead marks on the wing. The major difference b/w Dawes & Jack is that Dawes has a bigger presence and gets more involved in the play even if he doesn't take the mark.

We seemed to score a lot of goals from his handballs which is a little odd for a KF, but Chris Dawes is progressing well.

We now have two KFs who are big bodied, very agile and have big tanks. In today's football it is even more important than taking contested marks. A facit of the game that seems almost dead and buried.

I was pleased to see Dawes leap at the ball for some of his attempted marks last night. IMO, he needs to develop this trait as it leaves him less exposed to the spoil from behind.

Fair Enough and he is Improving as he only played 14 AFL Games and he be getting use to AFL Level Footy not VFL level Footy

How about the big grab near the goal square he wasn't paid. Robbed.

We are spoilt for young talent. He is probably showin just as much as two young guns at Essendon in Hurley and Gumbleton, yet we have so many other young gun that he doesnt get the kudos he deserves.

I am reall excited about watching this team over th coming years. The goal to Didak in the last and the buld up was harlem globe trotters stuff. It was funny listening to Bruce going nuts.

Dawes is coming along beautifully.

Great game by your boys last night, look to be the real deal.

I have watched a fair few collingwood games over the last few weeks and this guy has been super impressive can't believe he's only played the 14(?) games.

With him and Cloke seems Collingwoods forward line will be strong for years to come.

All the best for next weeks game!

appreciate your words.. seems most of your board are under the impression we won due to nothing more than luck, whilst theirs a unanimous feeling that you have us covered next time, (even though if we meet in finals one would imagine we would play in melbourne)

.....

anyway onto the topic, yes yes dawes is looking good. love everything about him, and he has now pushed anthony into limbo. their work rate is miles apart

Didn't see the game last night unfortunately due to work and was worried when I checked to see that Dawes didn't get a goal, but i'm glad he played well - I'm guessing outdid Anthony?

Who gets dropped for medders? Dawes adds alot to our side - contested football is how we win and its what he provides in the forward line...

Also Cloke - wow... The one thing i saw was the goal he kicked from the boundary outside 50...

Very happy with how Dawesome is progressing. He has really made our forward line that much more dangerous, not just with what he does, but also by drawing some heat away from Cloke, allowing him to be more threatening too.

That was a disgrace, no one else touched it, yet the umpire called play
on, was one of the worst calls of the season.

Also effected the game, as we would have won by 10-12 if they paid that, but instead we went back into our shells a bit and only won by 6.

Dawes deserved a goal too, was a criminal act from a stupid group of umpires.

Dawes has to stay in, just for the fact that Travis Cloke loves having him in the side, as he takes so much pressure off him.

Dawes and Cloke to play every game, barring injury of course.:thumbsu:

Should have only needed one grab anyway to be honest.

It's a good sign that he's able to be an effective player while struggling overhead. If he can fix it up, he'll be a gun for us.

Spot on. I must say that I'm surprised at how he good he is looking. I remember the first few times that I saw him playing VFL. I thought this guy looks the part, but he's got absolutely no idea where to go or what to do on the footy field. He's learnt the game very quickly and has developed an excellent game sense. If his overhead marking comes good he'll become a star, otherwise he'll be a good solid player

Dawes will definitely stay in while he keeps playing at this level. Last night was the first time I've seen him live since the Pies came over for preseason game against the Dogterds last year. He has definitely improved his ball handling. He covered a lot of ground last night too. And he does seem to gaining a bit of confidence to go for those big goalsquare marks - even when the umpy refuses to give it to him.

He doesnt look as big as Travis does. Travis looked like a giant next to McPhee. He just manhandles the little backmen.

I thought Dawes might look that big but aside from his big barrel chest, he just looks like a strong kid. He's going to be interesting in a couple more years. The fact that he had a year off for his knee injury and took a while to get his confidence back......this kid could be as good as Travis..

His kicking worries me a little but its improved a lot in 12 months.....and after seeing the improvement in Ben Reid's kicking, I'm going to give him a year or two more to kick through the ball more...

oh yeh... one thing I loved last night...everytime someone kicked a goal, the scoreboard at Subi puts the player's stats up ..including their age......22 for Pendles, 23 for Cloke...21 for Dawes... I love those numbers
