Thought i would make this thread with the intention of steering clear of game analysis and the like, rather focus on a bit of reflection on the past and gather people's reactions etc and generate interesting discussion. My question is "What were everybody's reactions when first hearing the news that Chris Judd aka the Messiah chose Carlton as his preferred destination following West Coast. I remember being at relative's down the street and getting the phone-call from home finding out what i would be doing for dinner etc. At this time also had my dad inform me of Judd's decision and remember asking if he was dead serious lol. Straightaway I was up and about, sure enough within minutes had run down the street to home and ripped out a massive "Juddy"(something along those lines lol).

So, would like to hear from all of you of your reactions come one of those days that Carlton once again received a glimmering shining bit of hope to re-ignite our proud club. Also, please try and stick clear of statements like...."i prematurely____ and the like haha

I was at work refreshing the hun web site every 5 seconds. When it was down to the filth and us I was so fricken nervous I nearly pissed my pants. But when I read that Gary Pert said "we are out of the race" I stood up in an office with about 100 people working there and screamed " YES". And scared the sh1t out of the people that were sitting near me. But everyone knew what I was screaming about.

I was a very happy man. :D:D

Changed my facebook status to "JUDDY!!!!!!" and messaged all my CFC supporting fb "friends" to tell them the great news - even the ones I hadn't seen/spoken to in years.

And creamed my pants:D

Ever had to watch a crappy romantic comedy with no storyline or redeeming features with your partner and been relieved when the credits finally start to roll? That is the best way I can describe the feeling, knowing that you have done the right thing by watching something that you would rather not until the bitter end, because it was the right thing to do, even though you know you will never be able to forget how bad it was. Now you have done your duty, you can finally go and watch something that doesn't make you cringe and resolve never to go back to that awful place again.

I have been a massive fan since I first saw Judd play for WCE. A mate of mine (who is also a Blues fan) used to come over and we would watch the WCE play (as well as the Blues) and we would both marvel at the things he could do and joke about how he would look good in the Navy Blue.

I knew our club was on the right track when he nominated us and it was a justification of the hard work the club had already started. Refused to believe it was going to happen until the AFL confirmed the paperwork was lodged and correct. It was also tinged with a little sadness as I was (and still am) a huge fan of Josh Kennedy and hated seeing him go as part of the deal. Josh Kennedy did the Carlton Football Club a massive favour by agreeing to be part of the Judd trade and is, in part, responsible for the good position we are now in.

The improvement of the CFC as a whole, both on and off the field, justifies my arrogance towards everyone not supporting the best club in the game.

One of those moments where u remember exactley what u were doing when you find out

I came home from school in year 12 and wrecked a totally good pair of pants when find out. Dad also had to repaint the walls of my bedroom that night

11 October 2007

I was wearing the navy blue jumper for a good 2 days from as soon as it was announced.... there wasn't much uni exam study done that day :)

I was on my way home from cricket training, when my mum told me the news... It was great

I couldn't have been in a better position. After work beers going along nicely, in walks fellow Carlton supporter, announces it to myself and 2 friends, I start carrying on like a women possessed, my 2 friends were hating it. Both Eagles supporters.

What a great day it was, i was still a Uni student back then. That week when Juddy was being shopped around to clubs i was literally taking my mini radio into class and listening to SEN as though they were about to reveal the Secret of Life. I think it was the Tuesday when the announced it and i was driving with a mate, who supports hawthorn, and SEN seemed to know a decision was imminent and then came the moment. I remember I being on the Monash Freeway and as soon as they announced it we both just started screaming JUDDY JUDYY and i was beeping to every car around me waving my carlton scarf, pretty much until i got home. It was such a special day. Everytime i got to a traffic light we would find other Carlton supporters who were just as ecstatic and they would start beeping when they figured out why we were so excited. I guess it was a special day for more clubs than just Carlton, with the hawks out of the frame to get him, my mate was excited that Juddy would be playing in Melbourne most weeks and that he would be able to see more of him. That day I just knew 17 was a lot closer.

Pretty sure I was at school and when I heard I just stood up raised both arms up like Freddie Flintoff does after a wicket...

To be honest, I thought Judd's shift to Carlton was one of the most telegraphed moves in AFL history.

It was clear from early in the season that he was on the move, and equally clear that we were the only club that was going to be able to put a viable trade together for him.

I'm suprised anyone was suprised.

I was overseas and i came back at about 10, with jet lag pressing i decided to sleep. The next morning i went out to the front of the house and collected the newspaper to see Chris Judd on the front cover in a navy blue Guernsey. At first i rushed to the phone book for the optometrist but i calmed down once everyone else was seeing it too

Maybe so but when a club as historically successful as what our club is has been down as long as what we were you quickly learn not to count your chickens before they've hatched. Therefore, the surprise element is mixed with those feelings of pure joy - knowing that our beloved club is truly back on its way up.

I had mixed feelings. ..

I wanted him to go to Melbourne as it would have been poetic to go back to his boyhood club and they were struggling too. ..

But I loved the idea that he could bring a winning culture to our club, as I thought we had the personnel but not the drive. ..

Then when I found out what we swapped for him, I was bitterly disappointed. .. Kennedy was a well liked club man already and a player for the future. .. I understood we needed to make a decent offer to secure Judd but I always wanted us to have thrown Fev into the trade as he was already starting to show signs he'd never learn. ..

Its worked out and I'm glad Judd delivered on the promise of turning our culture around. .. Every time I watch WCE play I feel sorry for Kennedy, especially when we play them and you see that there is still a core group of players that would like to have him still playing in the Navy Blue. ..

I was driving and let out a yelp that would nearly have registered with the Bureau of Seismology.

Almost drove my car off the road as well :thumbsu:

Same. Whitehorse Road, Nunawading, 3 o'clock news on the car radio. Pulled over (off?) and rang my best Carlton buddy in Tasmania. Screaming! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Sounds cool but you have a selective memory. The entire footy world was on tenterhooks whilst he made his decision. Anything could have happened.
