Forget Bryce Gibbs. For starters, we don't even have him on our list, he is not even playing AFL, and from what I gather being in Darwin, it is most likely due to typical past AFL experience, it would be a 40/60 shot in getting him via rule change.

Chris Knights, who I HAVE watched, looks like he will be a gun. He is a ball magnet, can kick goals from outside 50, is YOUNG, seems very mature, seems like he is excited to be at the club - which is great for an 'interstate player' unlike Fergus Watts.

He was racking up a minimum of 20 possessions in all the pre season games, I really hope the kid becomes a permanent fixture in our team.

Do you guys think that he will play Round 1, and can you see him playing at least 14 - 18 games this year?

Don't want to put too much pressure or expectation on him, but I am really EXCITED about him, the first Crows youngster in a LONG time that has given me this impression.

Thoughts?

I'm in the same camp as you with Knights.

We have snaffled a treasure in this boy. Will be a top-liner - that's a statement not a wish.

A gun in the making.

Again, don't want to add more pressure, but I could see this kid as a future captain.

The AFC is in a lucky position, as we have a number of potential future captains in our ranks, ie: Scott Thompson, Ben Rutten, etc.

What is even more pleasing, is that Knights was picked up under the Craig regime, not Ayres. Don't want to sound anti-Ayres, because I am not, but goes to show that under Craig, it seems that our recruiting has picked up a notch.

I have him in my Herald Sun SuperCoach team.

Barring injury, how many games do you expect him to play this year?

It took me a while to warm to this lad but from what I have seen this year this lad just keeps making progress in leaps and bounds.

I love his attack on the football and the way he has gone about playing the game. If he continues improving at this rate we will have a future club champion on our hands.

I just hope homesickness doesn't settle in and he is here to stay for quite a long while.:thumbsu:

i think we might be ok with home sickness, Knights was stated as saying "he loves the AFC"

good news!

he is great value in the dream team comp:cool:

could he be the new Reilly? I mean that he will look promising, but due to Adelaide's midfield depth he may not get a lot of gametime?

I don't think so. Craig has said a number of times that we need to develop younger generation of midfielders and the only way we can do that is if he plays them.

He wants to give more midfield time to players like Thompson, Reilly, Knights and Van Berlo while players like Goodwin, Ricciuto, McLeod and Edwards will spend more time in forward line and defence.

Just listened to Knights' press conference off afl.com.au and boy he spoke real well for a 19 year old.

Very understanding of where his game is at and chose the correct words and all.

Agreed... from what I have seen so far, and from misc reports, he seems VERY mature for someone his age.
