I think this boy would be a perfect 1st pick up for the Bombers. He's a young Simon Black, oozes class and has an ability to rack up huge numbers.

I think he's the sort of of player we need right now, we already have the outisde players like lovett, houli, wonderlich...we just need a player who can win the ball in the clearences and use it effectively by hand or foot.

The only worry is his kicking which i would rate a 6/10 atm, but will surely improve. I just hope he lasts long enough for Essendon's first pick, but Freo is the danger for picking him up early. Thoughts?

He's my first pick. Winning today against Carlton hasn't helped our chances of getting him. I think we need to trade away our first pick and a player to get a top 4-5 pick so we can get him. :thumbsu:

His kicking is better than 6/10. He hits targets very well.

What is his foot speed like?
He isnt a jet. He has reasonable speed but isnt what you call fast. Not that he has to be. He is simply a master at getting the footy from the clearances and getting his teamates into space.

Masten will go higher than Palmer from most reports,so could be more chance of getting palmer than him.

And how was Palmer winning a lot of his footy ? thats right on the end of a Masten handball.;)

There's no doubt Masten is better in close, but overall I think Palmer is better.

He kicks more goals, he's quicker and has better skills.

i watched palmers first quarter today i was very impressed he kicked three goals and had around 10 possessions (in the wafl league for south fremantle)

When everyone on Bigfooty said he cant kick i took special notice of him throughout the champs and i have to say its a load of crap. He is very capable field kick, just because he doesnt hit 50 metre slicing passes like a Brendan Goddard, it doesnt mean he cant kick. His best work is done in and under, and i agree with Ant, Rhys Palmer would have loved the armchair ride he got off Masten at times.

Something that i love about his game is his ability to gut run, which is what a player really needs to reach the top at AFL. When everyone else is spent he goes another 2-3 times. He loves to get his team mates involved, unlike a few junior stars who love the spotlight, but he knows when not to be to unselfish, something Bachar Houli struggles with. In game 1 alone of the championships i counted 3-4 direct goal assists to Rhys Palmer from Masten.

I think he is a pretty safe pickup.

This bloke cant kick. But yeah his a top 5 prospect

He can kick. Simple as that. Try watching again and maybe even getting some footage of his WAFL games ;)

so is there 5-6 blokes who could go before him?

You would struggle for that. The only ones that could go higher than him are Kreuzer, Cotchin and Morton, while Ebert, Palmer, Henderson and maybe Rioli could, we have seen stranger things happen on draft day.

Kruezer and Masten will end up at Carlton....We will get Rioli Daniher and hopefully Collier..After that who knows..

Although Rioli isnt my first choice i would be pretty happy if the draft landed the three you mentioned :thumbsu:

Palmer finished with three was voted amongst the best
Masten ended up with two goals in this game.... final score East Freo 31-16 (202) to Peel 12-8 (80) ... good old fashion floggin!!

You’re a dead set tool! The one thing Bachar lacks is being selfish. If you ever do manage to watch a game (clearly you don’t), he always dishes off by hand after getting the pill.

By the way can you tell me how Bachar loves the spotlight? Dud

ahh read my post again, i meant Bachar is too unselfish at time. The comment on some players liking the spotlight has no reference to Bachar at all. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for being a newbie ;)
