chris newman help out a mate (Fevola thread)

Why some of our supporters would want him just goes to show how lucky we are that they have no say in the matter.

Perfectly summed up. Imagine if Benny came out and said we will take him. We would be the laughing stock of the Australian sporting world. What a massive backward development for our club and brand that would be.

And with the Cuz comparisons, can anyone tell me exactly what he bought to the club excluding Foley and a few others walking around with balls in their hands, money and memberships? To say he bought off field leadership and professionalism to our young players on the track and in the gym is an indictment of our senior players and coaching staff. Sure he was great and the young players looked up to him, but please, how much better are we right now as a club because of him?

And on field, he never dominated. Maybe took a tag here and there and played some good footy, but for the first time in his AFL life, the two years with us he had a handball to kick ratio favouring handball. He was never the same attacking driving force he was with the Eagles for various reasons.

So to think Fev will change his entire demeanour and way of life and magically turn into a Richmond gun spearhead is plain stupid and ludicrous.

For the record i was very much in favor of getting Cuz and was stoked when we got him. But at the time we were still in no mans land with a dodgy list and coach and needed a feel good story and a bit of a shinny light. But now it a completely different set of circumstances. We are finally appearing to be entering our first real re-build from top to bottom, and getting someone like fev would be a massive step backwards.

anyone want to lay a bet that fev ends up at gws and if he does no one could tell me the afl with its double standards wont have a hand in it.

think about it the double standards with cuz and fev.
the afl gives the okay for a bloke lkike cuz in rehab to be given a life line but does all it can to get fev out of brisbane a bloke who is in rehab.
yep without a doubt fev is gws bound thats my conspiracy theory anyway the gist of which i got from another poster on another site.

I don't see Fev going to GWS, I think the Bulldogs may take a punt if Hall retires at the end of the year. Probably depends on who else other than Jarryd Grant they have up forward.

Why? What will Coburg have to do with Richmond in 2012.

So is it official that coburg wont have anything to do with RFC in 2012? I'm yet to see it clarified! If he goes to coburg, THIS YEAR, he will be amongst our players as it is and would have some sort link from there.

Not clarifiird, but 2 Pressers by Coburg, 1 by Phil Cleary, twice by Benny and once by Dimma, and the fact our contract runs out at this seasons end, would indicate the split is just a mere formality.

Not a formality bazzar.

They need to eradicate the debt. The interest payments on that are about the cost of fielding your own team in the VFL.

I believe that's the main objective of the FTF.

Its either that or renegotiate a new contract with Coburg, and i doubt they will even think about that the way they have been talking in the last few weeks.

The way Benny spoke of the positive nature of Collingwood and Geelong with a reserves team helping in a positive way to winning a flag, makes me think a stand alone reserves team would be extremely high with the funds distributed from our debt campaign.

The difference between Cousins and Fevola though is that when another club took the chance on Cousins, Cousins didn't continue to behave in the way that he did at his previous club. .
Another difference is that Cousins went to a second club after he had been derigistered for a year and was taken with the last draft pick and on minimum wage. Fev was traded for top players/picks and paid a motza. Not quite the same humbling experience, so I don't think thats really a valid comparison. But the real difference between the two is that Cousins was the consumate team player on the field, while Fev is an old-fashioned selfish full forward.

Fev will be at GWS next year anyway, so who realy cares.

I'll cop my whack, after what has come out, i retract my vote. He is seriously messed up and needs help. Football should be the last thing he does.
