Oh well done Vdubs. Also had Duncan out for a bit. Ablett to return, wonder if he'll be back for the Swans game. Would love a fit Cockatoo.

I was a bit worried at Rds 1 + 2, with our Rucks out of form. Spirits have lifted considerably with the improvement of Sav, who I think can #2 Ruck. Really prefer Blitz to stay in our Backline. The young blokes are terrific. I cannot criticise Scott, have always had faith in him.

Getting excited about the Swans game, whereas I'd been dreading it.
I dread every game until the day, then a peace comes over me. It is not us out there under the pump.

Whoa cowboy ! Not sure that is an 'overly critical view' o_O
If that's your analysis of the value of Mark Blicavs to our ever changing team, then yes, it is, give or take your concessions. With a fully fit list- no function?

Ha! Allow me to clarify, I also dread every game until the day, but was dreading the Swans game more than usual + as soon as I saw the fixture! I had the peace feeling yesterday, don't usually lose the nerves until we have the four points.

Ooh I wish we traded a top pick for Tom Boyd. Try again.

That wasn't the point. The statement was:

"Tell me the superb rucks that have contributed in a large way to any flags since 2012".

Boyd contributed in a major way to the Dogs winning the flag. Even though he's certainly not a superb ruck - at times he's barely competent. And no - I wouldn't have given up a top pick for him (as I'm suspect you and others are about to ask). Unfortunately for Sydney he picked that game to play well. How they got him is irrelevant to that fact.

I hate playing the Swans when we've had a great win, and they've had a loss. With this season the way it has been, no way would a loss against them be a surprise. Teams just seem to have a real response to the week before in dramatic ways. NM beating Hawks - love it; a depleted Crows beating Swans; depleted Cats winning away; Pies beating Crows away.

Boyd is a KF who had to play ruck due to injuries. Agree, useful. He came at a price, to rectify their lack of a power KF that had been a LT issue.
Nankervis was useful, but not listed in their best 8 players on GF day.

If you think Nankervis did not contribute to their premiership last year, particularly all through September, then we disagree.

Of course he contributed, as would Stanley or Smith if they were fit and played in a winning finals series, eg Blake 09, West 11.

Yeah my bad, ya right. He did sweet fa in helping them get to the big dance but I believe he should've won the Norm Smith that year....very stiff the swans. Similar to Hawkins in 2011, from where I sat I thought he should've won too. Both turned the game on their heads for their clubs.

It's fascinating and must really annoy the Swans. It's pretty much the only decent game I've seen him play.

Swans had a huge emotional toll with the death of Rohan's twin, Willow. I think that could have affected them. Did Rohan play this weekend? I do worry that Geelong becomes complacent after a win. Would be very proud if our Boyz backed up the Port game win, with another solid effort against the Swans *fingers crossed*

Ignorance on my part? I've been calling for us to get a decent ruckman for years. Instead we go with second hand spuds. We had multiple opportunities to recruit dedicated ruckman and went for players like Thurlow. This has been an issue since Ottens left. Mumford was the only decent one and we traded him away. We have kept bringing in this 'hybrid' ruck like McIntosh, Mitch Clark, Nathan Vardy, Josh Walker (lol). Trent West, Dawson Simpson, Tom Hawkins - its embarrassing how many times the club has got it wrong. Now we are stuck with hybrid spud Stanley and Smith who is lacking the intensity to be a decent ruck.
We did not trade Mumford. He was on the rookie list and was entitled to accept an offer from Sydney. He didn't want to go but the Swans kept upping the figure until there was no way he could stay and remain sane. We could not match their offer as Bomber and Cook were trying to keep enough money to avoid losing Ablett, as it was even with a million on offer we could not entice Ablett to stay with the Suns offering 1.7m for the first season. Had we known that Ablett would definitely leave we could have matched the Swans offer and kept Mumy.

Boyd played a fairly useful second half in 2016. Nankervis was very good last year. That's two for starters.

McIntosh played more good games for us than Boyd has played for the dogs. It's just the dogs were incredibly lucky that his couple of good games coincided with the 2016 finals.

He did. Normal game from him - 9 disposals, 2 goals.

I like the guy, but yes, unless he manages to really nail some sort of role.
Always thought he could make a useful key defender though. Liking his recent work.
Don't worry . Who ever has a fully fit list?
Blitz is safe.

Thought it was one of the more meritorious wins in recent years to be honest.

Totally agree. And gives some measure of hope that we are still tracking in the right direction, despite all the injuries and the stack of young players gracing the side.

While I know you definitely see some of the key issues Scott and his team have in how they handle the side, you would never do anything other than acknowledge that result for what it was. A really, really good win, given the circumstances.

When others can't do the same (and, more than that, can't even appreciate the wisdom of keeping quiet in the midst of such compelling evidence against their doomsday arguments), their credibility is shredded, in my view.

When even convincing victories achieved under this coach are greeted with unrelenting scorn, you can't help but wonder about the objectivity of the posters involved.

Like how after a win certain posters including myself are called out because we were too busy to post or have nothing to say. You'd think it was bay 13 the way some carry on.

The first posts after a win in the Chris Scott thread is nearly always baiting from the pro Scott crowd.

Just because the team has a good win doesn't mean everything is rosy and Chris Scott is the best coach ever. He and the MC have had a shocking start to the season.

Port Adelaide were dreadful, they had no decent ruck and missed some good inside mids, their slow ball movement was terrible. They basically had no run and carry which is the best way to beat us. Was still a good win but would be a different story if they had a full team (in a team with a lot of soft outside players they really needed a lot more inside grunt).

A non negotiable key player has a regular position. He has no credits as a ruck or wingman. None. Some credits as a defensive mid but is he ahead of scott selwood? He is showing some as a defender but when fit we have plenty of tall defenders. Think his career would prosper better as a permanent defender at another club. Or he could just wait to harry retires to finally find his role.
What "position" was Kouta?
Blic has Kouta value for us.
Why can't you be happy that we have such an adaptable, capable , versatile go-to player that can and does get used anywhere there is a need. If only every team had one of these players. The speed with which he got back to FB contests yesterday was excellent.

Really? After last night you're talking about the players Port were missing? You put together the best team from each side that wasn't playing and we win by 100 points.
