Hi everyone,
I'm not an Eagles supporter but wanted your thoughts on Clancy Rudeforth performance's with Claremont so far this season and his performance against the VFL a few weeks ago in state game ?

Do you think he has a chance of getting a senior game (being promoted off rookie list) this year or will we have to wait until next year ?

Rookie listed so unless there are some LT injuries he won't play.

His performances by and large have been good for claremont. He's developing into a run-with type midfielder. Shows great commitment and application and is apparently held in high esteem by the boys at the club.

May get elevated next year but who knows. He does exactly meet one of our pressing needs.

He's taken a long time but has just started to break through at WAFL level- by all accounts is very tough, hard at it and not lacking in testicular fortitude. He played a blinder for claremont a few weeks back when Worsfold was watching which is always a good way of holding your place on the list.

A lot of people wondered why he was retained but lately he's been getting very good press for his attitude and work ethic- a week back, Judd gave him a big wrap in the article he writes for the eagles website-

Another classic example of a player who has managed to avoid this terminal flatness which I talk of, is one of our rookie list players Clancy Rudeforth who’s in his third year at the club and who every player hopes will be elevated on to the main list at the end of the season.

Ruda (as he’s affectionately known) is one of the hardest working players at the club, is a good leader, and would be just as respected as Rowan Jones, or anyone else for that matter, which is no mean feat for a player who is yet to make his debut at AFL level.

A lot of players without a huge amount of natural talent have built careers for themselves on the basis of outstanding work ethic and great attitudes , Peter Bell being the classic example, and I'm beginning to think Rudeforth might be capable of doing that. Probably won't play this season but next year will be his big chance.

Good News!

If this is true, which i hope he would fit well into an eagles midfield that isn't known for running 'the other way' ie cousins kerr and flectcher so hopefully he can become a acountable midfielder

About 8 months ago, i Would've said he wouldn't be on our rookie list in 2004. Now i think he's a bit of a chance to be on our main list in 2005.

havne't seen him, but from what i hear he's having a great season.

but he's biggest problem is that Brett Jones is gonna have to be promoted next year, And Jaymie Grayham is much more likely than him to get promoted.

And i really can't see the club promoting three rookies to the sniors........

but time will tell. Still about 10 weeks to go for everyone to impress.

The club might opt to promote Clancey this year, and wait one year before promoting Jaymie.

If the club wants to keep Rudeforth that would be the likely scenario. We either have to promote Clancy for next year or delist him as he's been on the rookie list for three years whereas we can keep Graham on the rookie list next year. Similar deal to Zac Beeck last year.

Since Jaymie's probably not going to be AFL ready even next year it wouldn't surprise to see him left on the rookie list again.

Yeah, the only way Graham will get a game next year is if there are some serious long term injuries to someone like Glass or Lynch, and if that's the case, we could promote him when that happened anyway.

The possibility of Rudeforth playing AFL Football is not dissimiliar to the possibility of him growing another reproductive organ!

He might be able to borrow Miriams once he's finished with it.

Rudeforth in state side

What were your thoughts on the overall makeup of the WA side the played against the VFL . With Clancy in there, do you think it made much of the difference ?

With Brad Smith (Subiaco), who skippered the side does anyone believe that he can get picked up by the Eagles or Dockers as a mature aged recruit ?

His performances for Subiaco each week have been nothing short of outstanding, just booting goals at will.

we've discussed on another site, and basically it was split. Half thought he would be a good pick up and the other half thought that good WAFL player doesn't always = good AFL player

i personally wouldn't mind the club picking him up as i think he would add more value to our list than a Munro etc who is currently on there.

WAFL forums and websites

Do you know of any good WAFL discussion forums or unofficial websites that you guys use ?

What was the unofficial Eagles site that a few people on here have spoken about ?

Interested to talk WAFL footy, as being down here in Victoria it doesn't get any or very little media coverage other than scores and ladders in weekend newspapers.

There is a WAFL forum on EaglesFlyingHigh.com. Also happens to be the unofficial Eagles site which people are referring to.

Matt Pridis

What are everyone's thoughts on Matt Pridis (Subiaco) there has been plenty about him in Football Budget which I get in the mail each week to keep up on WA football ?

I personally think he would be agood pick up along for West Coast or Fremantle.

Any thoughts or is he the same as Brad Smith good at WAFL standard, but might struggle in the big league ?

Priddis

I don't know how good he is! I only know that he was training with the eagles pre-season so that the Eagles could have a look at him for rookie listing so he must have something. As well he blitzed them in beep tests and that sort of thing - has incredible endurance.
He has been playing well midfield for Subiaco so he must be a chance for a look in come draft time.

Too slow for AFL level, incredibly one-paced and one sided. Extremely fit though as he recored by memory a 15.6 in the beep test. Farren Ray won it at draft camp with 15.3.
