I think with our decision to stock up on rucks in the draft and rookie pool, keeping Clarke on was a very foolish move. It seems Clarke is determined to play him, and three ruckmen in our 22, when all of them range from average to awful at field play, is a massive liability.
Clarke is by far the worst in general play (though I think if he'd applied himself, he could have been a good around-the-grounder...he's taken some good marks every now and then...but it's too late to change him now) and his tapwork is no longer important to the structure of our side - he has been worked out by other clubs for a couple of years running now, and more often than not the opposition is positioned exactly for his taps.
I would have kept him round the club in a ruck development role, but honestly, why did we keep him? As a member of our 22 he is a liability, and if he's going to spend a lot of time on the bench then why bother?
