In my biased opinion Kevin Smiths best film, one of the funniest movies i have ever seen.

anyone else seen it?

if so what did you think of it?

are you a fan of Kevin Smith films?

how long would it last if shown on ch. 7,9 or 10 after they cut it 15-20minutes? :D

Clerks is one of those movies with a fantastic cost:entertainment value ratio.. Like Blair Witch (you may think differently), The Castle, etc.

Love it - though Mallrats is my personal favourite Kevin Smith. A lot of it depends on whether you like his style of filmmaking/scriptwriting in the first place, of course.

kevin smith is a comic genius. i loved all his films and can't wait for his new one jersey girl. chasing amy was alright but i think it was intended to be less of a comedy and more of a drama. however, the star wars scene at the start is a classic. mallrats, the stink palm and fly fat arse fly scene. dogma laughed my head off all the way through it, as i did through jay and silent bob strike back. clerks, will were do you start, my cousin walt, the 37 guys, the jizzmopper or the beserker. cult classic. think i might go hire it now, nooch

Love all the movies.

Clerks is a ****ing classic.

Clerks proves you can have next to no money, no experience in the industry & still produce a damn good film!

Kevin Smith movies loooooove them all & one, can't believe some people don't like Clerks, Dogma is still my fav, shame the last 10 minutes didn't end up on the cutting room floor though.

Now I have just forked out for a DVD player will get everyone of his movies on DVD.

Silent Bob, you can put your shoes under my bed any day. :D

Not just my favourite Kevin Smith film, probably my favourite film, for lots of reasons, but most of all because it was made for something like $35,000 and proved that all the stunts and effects of those blockbusters on budgets 100 times as large don't add up to a stack of **** against great writing and good direction.

Also for introducing several million people to the concept of "snowballing", a practice Rupert is glad to say he has never participated in!

Still can't find that video that Randall was ordering, "Home Alone II: The KY Connection", when that mum came into the store with her four-year-old daughter.

Cheers
Rupert

While Clerks was brilliant, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was by far the better film! Some of the funniest **** I've seen in a long time...

"Just for the record, I'm not gay....but he LOVES the ****!"

Mallrats was the best I thought, Chasing Amy was crap Dogma and Clerks were also really good.

He is not making anymore is he?

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was the last one I believe.

Mallrats was the best, Clerks was damn good too...but Chasing Amy was so completely different to those two that it's quite unfair to compare them. CA was a great movie, but for very different reasons than the others. Dogma had a lot of potential but wasn't as good.

I haven't seen any of Kevin Smith's films, but what's surprising about the response here is most think 'Mallrats' is his best film, when that got the most lukewarm response when first released.

I think Kevin Smith even apologised about it for "selling out" to Hollywood afterwards!

There you go. I always thought Kevin Smith was the last bloke to umpire a VFL Grand Final on his own.

Great film though. I got a feeling I was trapped in it and the only way out was to see it to the end. I wanted to know what happened - a rare event in flim.

Got 20 mins into Clerks and returned it to store.

Opinions differ.

Much preferred Kevin & Perry go large.

I did that the first time too. Then after a mate was raving about it, I thought I'd give it a second shot. Absolutely loved it, and the next two also (though for me Clerks is still the best). Dogma just crossed the line from an 'observations' type movie to a fantasy movie, and for me that detracted. I don't like movies/books where things happen that clearly aren't possible. Haven't seen 'Jay & Silent Bob....' yet.

I love Kevin Smith films.
The Jersey Chronicles are what the five films are called and Smith has ceased using these characters from my understanding, but he is still filming obviously.
Clerks and Mallrats are def. my favourites.
Mallrats is the DVD I put on whenever I come home after a night out.
I can't even remember any of the choice quotes from it, because I love so many of them. There were a lot of scenes in Mallrats that kind of reminded me of the film Serial Mom. Not so much in the story line, but just the little look into smalltown America. Not glamourous Hollywood but the burbs that we rarely see in movies.
What's great about the whole series are the references to the other films - like the Beserker t-shirt in J&SBSB etc. It was the little touches that made you feel like you were part of Smith's Jersey film family.
