Ok ive been out of Bigfooty a while in terms of posting but ive been reading and i got my login sorted so im back.

Cloke for Hampson.

Cloke needs to find a dimension, and he hasnt. Hes shake and bake (and not even very good shake and bake) - he'll either take a grab in the forward line or play in the ruck, and for mine neither he doesnt in a capacity that makes me think he isnt run of the mill. Someone said it in a post and I agree - you use ur body youre a big boy! FFS I know hes got a bit of carnty in him lets see it.

Speaking of carnty, get Hampson back in there. Time to give him another few games, say 3-4 and show us whats hes got. Hes a bloody amazing athlete and when Judd came to our club he said two people impressed him - Murphy and Hampson. Coming from the champ thats a big nod my friends.

While im at it. Bentley. Im sorry I missed the background story as to why he got picked. Some guy at the pub was in my ear saying its because he was hard at it. Obviously he said while I was raising the question marks, this nearing the end of the game when it was slipping and he said it with a dispair and desperation in the same fashion as the tone I was hurling at the TV... wtf?! Did he just shy away on the big stage? That was bad. Hadleys hard at it he'll get ya 12 tackles a game and doesnt mind taking a hit and when hes doing it Wiggins grows a leg.

So Cloke for Hampson, Bentley for Hadley. Logical.

Thoughts?

leave Cloke in the foward line, dump Sentanta. Im just so fustrated that he has such poor football ability after being at the club for so long now.

Cloke or Sentana?

Cloke has been in the system long enough. His style of game is too slow . Big guys need to be able to move like a J Brown if they are going to survive.

One thing that really stood out was Hodges smother. Hes too 1 dimensional. If he starts to load up for a kick you know its a kick. Wheres the intuition? The guys all out diving for a smother you pull it in a step around. Hodge made him look silly.

At least Setanta can move, If Cloke had green hair it would look as if we had planted a tree in the forward line. Setanta contributes more than Cloke.

did you catch that goal he kicked after he roved his own ruck work?

If Hampson comes in, it would have to be as a ruckman. there's been a couple of posts on other threads that he comes in as a forward, but i don't see how - yes he's athletic but the worst facet of his game is marking which is crucial as a tall forward. however, as a ruckman who's tall, great leap and from all reports has been winning a lot of tapes in the VFL, he's worth the punt. Added to that he's super quick.

Who to drop for him? It'd probably have to be Setanta. I like Setanta, but for mine I don't know where to play him? He's used as a ruckman but he's not quite a ruckman, he's used as a forward but he's not quite a forward (rarely takes a mark on the lead), and he's used as a backman but he's not quite a backman. His skills have improved a LOT and so has his reading of the game, but he's still a little slow in getting rid of the ball (football is not his natural game), he gives away a lot of frees, and I don't see what position the Blues can put him into as his set position. At best, he's a backman, but who does he displace?

As for Clokie, at the moment he doesn't seem the answer at CHF. It could be that he's only played 6 games there as a permanent (was used as a ruckman before this year) and needs more time to develop, or it coild be that he just isn't mobile enough. If he's not mobile enough then the Blues should look at bringing in a VFL player for that position and grooming that player. I was a fan of Hartlett, but injuries haven't helped him and in the VFL they're putting him at the backline now, so the blues may have given up on him as a forward. One player that could be used is Austin - from all reports he's been spending time as a forward in the VFL and is a natural. So for Cloke I'd bring in Austin.

Fisher can't kick, no deal.
O'hAilpin has been alright.
Bentley can't play and must go, we aren't tanking anymore.

Fevola and Kreuzer = new twin towers.

Problem is that playing Kreuzer forward, you are robbing us of our best rucking option right now, and we should persist with him there. Hard to know what to do with Cloke/Setanta, although I thought Carlos did a pretty good job against the Doggies, and was ok vs Hawthorn. Problem is, the MC can't decide where to play him.

Problem is, I don't know what the answer is either. If Hampsons form has been good for the Ants, perhaps we promote him, and rotate him and Kreuzer through the ruck, and they can have a breather in the FP.

Then we need to decide what to do at CHF. Both have shown signs, and mybe we need to have a look at Carlos, and see what he can do when he has a bit more focus on him.

The pleasing thing is that we can play Kreuzer forward when Warnock is back into it which will be half way through the year. Im not sure if Warnock can play the tall forward. Hampson should be your third tall to come off the bench and run his tank to empty before coming off. Play the Richo role. Rome the ground as a tall, play 50m in front or behind the ball.

I like his attitude. I remember the first win he was involved in and they way he celebrated inside the circle. Hes got mongrel in him. Similar story to O'Hailpin in that he hasnt been playing the game long and yes I agree ball skills are lacking but play him to his strengths. Another mobile tall - you could eventually have Hampson, Kreuzer and Warnock playing on the same ground and thats 3 bloody mobile ruckman and will cause headaches for opposition ill give you the tip.

Hampson,Austin & Hadley would have to be in the mix for a game this week.

Bannister will be selected this week, I will quote 10+ posts of me saying this, and you shall all bow down to me*

*Should Bannister not be selected, I am in the privilliged position of not having to quote anything, and thus am basically in a no lose situation.+

+ Even if Bannister is selected, he is coming off a BOG performance, and thus it is not really a suggestion from the left field, and probably doesn't require any bowing to take place.

one goal. He often gets to ball and takes for ages to kick it. Its like hes a 10 year old kid that really needs to concentrate on his kicked or else he'll get it wrong.

Hammer needs to play this week. We will get killed by Sandy around the ground with his body stregth(spelling LOL). Anyhow Cloke is pretty hopeless he is gonna be found out of the next few weeks. He barley gives a contest as well.

I dont care if Bannister plays thats comedic gold!

Cloke is only a pinch-hitter, who is not a full-time Ruckman ...
You do realise this don't you ???
Frankly he wouldn't be spending any time in the ruck at all, if Warnock was fit and healthy ..
He is better off being another 'tall target' up in the foward/CHF line (or maybe even down back sometimes when required)

We will be okay once Warnock comes back trust me (he is 10 cms taller then Clokey for instance, and 5 cms taller then Hampson !!! :D)
You shouldn't drop a bloke on the basis of one admittedly poor game IMHO.

Cloke has been serviceable (not set the world on fire I admit) throughout this season, but just needs one decent game to get his confidence up (hopefully this week)

I'm still not sold on Hampson btw right now, just still looks like he is too raw to play AFL, and really needs to bulk up and put on more weight (so does Warnock)

Did you catch that other awesome thing he did?.........Oh wait......he didn't do anything else

Setanta has been disapointing since his return. You cannot fault his endeavour but his skills are just not up to scratch, and atm the MC don't even know where they are playing him.

He can't kick or mark very well - so he can't play forward.

Too short - can't play ruck.

Seems to have lost strength and lacks footy smarts - so can't play back anymore.

What is he in the side for?? I for one don't think he has a future at Carlton so why not give someone else a chance? (Hampson/Austin) (i don't like bagging Carlton players but i am just calling it as i see it).

Cloke deserves another chance as he has been valuable this year in that he draws another defender and can play good footy (he was terrible on the weekend).

My Ins this week would be:

Hadley for Bently (no brainer)

Hampson for Setanta (must be rewarded for his last month in the VFL)

Bannister is definately in the mix to provide that utility role (been great in the VFL but may need a few weeks to regain full match fitness??). So is Austin but he may need a few more weeks playing as a fwd to be given his chance (he could develop into a swingman if given the chance, alot to like about this kid IMHO).

give Cloke another chance and he'll perform ok against another mediocre team and probably kick a bag of 3 on some Freo kid and he will go "ok" until we play another good side and want him to stand up. He's at his peak, he's not good enough, bring in Austin!

If Cloke can actually play he will go back to the VFL and perform and get back in...
