Cloke, 24, has not played for Carlton since round seven after he was sent back to David Teague at the Northern Bullants to find some form.

"I'll just be working hard and trying to put my name up there and try and push for the senior spot."

Cloke has kicked 15 goals in the Bullants' last four games, including six against the Bendigo Bombers on Saturday at Windy Hill.

you can't be convinced he's not at afl standard if he hasn't played afl since round 7.. his attitude is so much better and frankly so is his form so i really hope clokey gets a spot because it would liven up our forward line so much especially with setanta out and our ruck still in a bit of transition. heres to sammy jacobs getting a game soon. love these kids :thumbsu:

Don't think Clokey's problem is his attitude - never thought that.

His problem is his pace, he's NATURALLY not quick. Like Fish, if he doesn't mark it then because of his lack of pace & mobility the opposition just run off him.

He can get away with it at VFL standard because the game isn't as quick, but AFL is much quicker and he gets exposed.

Anyway, at this stage with Setanta out I'd probably play Clokey because we're really struggling up there for another big man, and Clokey is a better kick than Fish and can go into the ruck which can release Kruz to the forward line

The sooner O'hAilpin, Cloke AND Fisher are out of our best 22 the better. Shame it won't be until 2010...
Not convinced by his games vs Saints, Dons and Freo?

So Carlos' 4 goals in his last game means he should be delisted, added to that the 2 goals against league leader the Saints and providing us with another marking option up forward?

Please, tell me you're not serious.

Cloke will never be a world beater, but if he can clunk a few marks in the forward line, and contribute with a goal or two each week, then he's doing his job. At least he is kicking goals and doing well at VFL level. He really should be included this week, given how badly our forward line functioned last week.

Geez, surely we've got a better picture of Cloke than one that looks like he's about to lock lips with Gibbs!

Could have been worse, I guess...

if cloke playes he also needs to start crashing packs and clearing space for fev to lead into and the crummers to get to fev's feet

he is a big boy and need to make his presence felt so defenders start worrying about him rather than just running off him

Disagree completely.

Part of Clokes flaw is not being accountable or able to put pressure on his direct opponent.

Kicking 1-2 goals a week and taking a few marks doesn't cut it. That's why he's been in the reserves for the majority of the year and is likely to be delisted at years end.

The one thing cloke does is present well up the ground. I like Setanta and I believe he needs to be in that forward line but he doesnt know how to play the CHF role properly. Cloke at least leads and presents around the 60 to 80 metre zone fairly well. This is something we have missed for a while now...we seem to run it out of defence but dont have any options to kick to. Instead we try to be cute and turn it over with bad passing, OR, we are trying to run it that further 20 to 30 metres to bomb it down to fev. When wiggins was there lagging around the half forward zone, he gave us an option, but he isnt the solution.

If we can have Cloke playing true CHF, leading up the ground, making that option for our defence and midfielders to kick to when running out of defence, and then have fev and setanta closer to goals, we will be better off. Betts and other fast crummers would get better opportunities this way also.

I think Setanta can play that Fisher type role deeper in the forward line.

Wiggins does a much better job of this than Cloke...

Different strokes...i would rather have someone with size, a big target to hit on the chest when running out of defence.

Can we fit all 3 forwards? I think so, especially at the MCG...if cloke plays true CHF, leads up the ground etc...i dont see why not.

Can we fit a forward line with Cloke,Fev and Sentanta???????????

No. Too tall, too slow, too incapable at ground level, too easy for the opposition to rebound and offer nothing in the way of defensive pressure. At BEST we can only afford to play one of Cloke, Setanta and Fisher along with Fevola before it becomes too hard to cover their deficiencies in these areas. If you want an example of how dysfunctional a tall forward line is check out a replay of last week's game...

A big target is pointless if it is incapable of taking a contested grab, kicking a goal or posing any real threat to the opposition.

Watch a replay last week's game to see how poorly a Carlton forward line with 3 talls actually works...

Delisted? He has a contract. Unlikely.

Keep posting crap. We still know your a flog... :thumbsu:

Come on Clokey.. Shove it up the flogs who think you you cant play..
Atleast he gives 110%... He's kicked 11 goals in 2 games...
Note he's also lost weight while joining Carlton which is more than I can say for our so called VC...
