We have some wonderful new kids on our list.
The following players attended : Paul Medhurst, Dayne Beams, Steele Sidebottom, Jarrad Blight, Luke Rounds, Lachlan Keefe (Rookie), Tristan Francis (Rookie), Jaryd Blair (Rookie) & John Bennell (Rookie).
Also Luke Beveridge the development manager attended and also VFL team manager Eddie Hillgrove.
We had Steele Sidebottom on our table and Beams & Blight sitting on the table next to us.
Sidey comes across as a good kid. Pretty jovial but not full of himself. He's hoping to play this Friday. He said Pendles has been mentoring him and he's been doing heaps of extra sessions with Pendles to increase his skills/fitness.
Dayne Beams comes across as very self assured and focussed. He too said Pendles has been mentoring him and Luke Beveridge was very high in praise of both Sidey & Beamsy with their work ethic.
Beamsy said to us that Derek Hine guaranteed to him that if was available with our second pick that we take him and he was rapt the Pies had put a lot of faith into him.
He also said Guy McKenna rang him constantly to get to play at GC17 but Beamsy had no interest in playing with them.
Jarrad Blight was rated as BOG in the VFL practice game by Eddie Hillgrove and Luke Beveridge. He seems himself as hopefully a Centre Half Back/ Tall Defender.
John Bennell was a classic. He's a cheeky lad. Related to Brad Dick and Shannon Cox he told us. Of course his favourite player is Leon.
Medders was there as he won the CLUB42 best player for 2008 and made a speech. He said he was quite humbled to win an award with Darren Millane's name on it and the quality of the past winners. He said he'll be playing on Friday night and said his body feels fantastic after the problems he had before X-Mas.
Luke Beveridge said Lachlan Keefe's development was very exciting. He said his skills on both sides for a 6ft 8in ruckman were impressive. Beveridge also loved the hardness of Rounds and Francis. He said Rounds has wonderful pace and put on 6 kilos since arriving to increase his strength.
All in all I must say I was very impressed with this group of kids the club has recruited.
Sounds Like Pendles seems to be the Leader of the Younger Kids and Pretty impressive for a Kid at 21 is being a Part-Time coach with the Kids.
