1.) Where to for the Bulldogs? Are wasting away the success of 2016 with more poor performances. It is looking more and more like a fluke each year. Concerning that Boyd can't crack into the best XVIII. How does Beveridge get the Dogs on track?

2.) Buckley - is it the players or the coach? Grug_ thinks he is a good enough coach however he is continuously let down by the poor skills and decision of his players. Still, the coach must take some of the blame. Some concerning potatoes on the Magpie list.

3.) Will anyone come close to Port? They looked a million dollars. No one looks like coming close to Bonner or Marshall in the Rising Star and there's so much X factor about the team. Ryder out will be a blow however right now they look unstoppable.

4.) North. Lol. We all new it would be a tough year but Grug_ thought that the conditions actually suited North with the hardened bodies of Ziebell and Cunnington and it was a great opportunity to chalk up an early win. They have probably escaped more scrutiny as they weren't the feature game on Saturday night however there will be nowhere to hide Friday.

5.) The Golden Oldies Ablett and Franklin are in the twilight years of their careers yet are still in the top 5 players in the competition. Both will go down as 2 of the best ever players to have ever played, comfortably within the top 30 of all time.

And by popular demand......

6.) The Brayshaw experiment on Ch 7 was every bit the failure it was expected to be. It's bad enough I have to listen to Mrs Grug_ yabber away on the phone to Mrs Mr Gui Guojie all night through the game however to have pitted Brayshaw and Darcy in the same commentary box is the very definition of chalk on the blackboard

Grug_ is concerned by your use of capital letters champ

Grug_ if you are a debutante on BF, there is a peer enforced rule about creating a thread celebrating your own team, even when disguised with a fake nose and mustache. So this might not go well.

Cunnington and Ziebell played well though. North's biggest problem was forward 50 pressure.

Does Grug have a split personality?

Man, Watts and the new kid will be joint Colemans, premiership will be Ports, TWO Rising Stars for Port as well (Lets face it they will draw), Brownlows shared by at least 3 of their players.

Its all coming up Port!

We've got one of these on the Brisbane board who keeps referring to themselves in the third person. But unlike grug, dodongo actually cracks me up.

Ummm you beat Freo at home. Ryder is your only decent ruck and losing him is a massive out (hopefully he's not gone for too long). We all saw how good Port were in 2017 at smashing the lesser teams and then barely beat a top 8 team all year. I think Port are a good team but they still have a fair bit to prove before they are established as genuine contenders. On the plus side I reckon their new debutants fit in beautifully so on a needs basis they have improved their side. Motlop in particular adds a new dimension that was lacking last year.

I am still skeptical about Port's defense against the better forward lines as well. Lets see how they fare against the likes of the Crows, GWS, Hawthorn and Essendon.
