Good to see another thread on Hewitt! I am so bloody proud of him right now. His guts and heart are second to none! In fact I have not seen a sportsman with as much. His love for his country is superb too. Sure he might annoy some with his come ons but I dont see the big deal with them. We live in a very soft society these days. Come On!!!!

Hear hear.

Hewitt's last missus has a face like a smashed crab, a twisted running shoe, AND a dropped pie but, the funny thing is, YOU WOULD THINK SHE WAS HIS IDENTICAL TWIN!!!!

That was always the joke on Lleyton - bonking someone who looked as close as possible to him!

C'mon!!!!

I really admire Lleyton. If he was playing football, he would be a tagger. He would be up at the tribunal every second week... as a witness! He knows what buttons to push on his opponent. How to get under their skin. That is really what the C'mon's are about. ********ing them off.

How do you think he will play big Marat? He will be C'moning and Lawnmowering all over the place and will have him homicidal before the first set is out. Then he will be easy picking.

He doesn't have the firepower in his game of the other top players - he is far less likely to be smashing impossible winners - but will keep persisting until his opponent crumbles.

He is only 23 but has been World #1 and has also won a few majors.

C'mon!!!

C'MMMOOONNNNN love his attitude heaps better than that Boutsy sooky sooky la la poosis - go hewitt.

Looks like kim has stepped up in the man stakes also

Davis Cup? Why dont you throw in the Wizard Cup whilst you're at it.

The question as to whether he's a choker or not will be answered in the next 60 minutes.

Save your breathe until then. Or save your breathe anyway, cos you'll need it to blow up your girlfriend tonight :)
Gone a bit quiet there Braniac! Haven't choked on your own bull******** have you..? Way to go Lleyton..C'MON!! Pure guts!!

Haha Phillippoussis what a joke he is. I think after all of this he shall be known as Mark Who to all Aussie tennis fans.

Hewitt's a champ. Who cares if he says 'come on'? Most of the other players are whinging girls lol. NcEnroe was 10 times more annoying lol. If Hewitt didnt slacken off or get injured in his 2 games before Roddick, he would have won those games in 3 sets.

Currently LMAO @ you 1980 ..... Do you want a nice Chianti to wash those words of yours down with or a nice Cab Sav ..... maybe you prefer a white

What would you like for dessert ...... a nice big piece of humble pie ? ;)

I don`t have a dictionary handy but anyone can correct me if i am wrong but to me , the quintessential description of a choker is someone who crumbles under pressure .......... LMAO

Quick definitions (choker)

noun: a high tight collar
noun: necklace that fits tightly around a woman's neck
noun: an unfortunate person who is unable to perform effectively because of nervous tension or agitation (Example: "He could win if he wasn't a choker")
noun: someone who kills by strangling

Still not sure on this one. Any sportsman wanting sooo bad to win their own Countries Championship, a battle above the shoulders is bound to happen and there has to be some pressure. I hope he can overcome these demons for his own sake. If he can win this one it will make the Oz Opens in years to come alot easier.

There is a certain resemblance between Princess Fiona and Kim! Good pick up Cub.

hewitt won wimbeldon and the US open. Hey '1980', how many australians have won the aus open in the last 30 years? lol. Hewitt only lost his number 1 spot over a year ago because he missed about 4 months from injury. He dropped to about number 15, but he has worked his way back to number 2. Federer is the best, then Hewitt would be the next. Hewitt is probably capable of beating Federer again and taking number one spot though.

You don't get to be number 1 in the world for 2 years, win 2 grand slams, win the Masters Cup twice, be the most succesful Davis Cup player in Australia's history at the tender age of 23, win 9 of your last ten 5 set matches (whilst having no firepower mind you) by being a choker. The guy is a mental giant, is all heart and determination and fights to the bitter death everytime he steps out on the court.

Mind you I think Marat will take him out towmorrow, probably in 4 sets. But Hewitt should get his respect because fighters like this kid don't come around all the time.

Ditto what Johnboy said - underestimate this guy's mental toughness at your peril. I think he'll beat Marat.

I agree and would even draft him with the hope of him playing in the centre.
Or at least have a player with his courage, tenacity and heart.
