As far as I'm aware we're not making any more appointments.

We have new appointment Leigh Tudor coaching the forwards, Silvagni remains in charge of the backs and I believe Tony Elshaug the midfielders. Whether or not that means Elshaug is now a full time assistant coach or retains his position as the football department general manager as well I'm not sure.

From the only good bit on Saintscentral, Ask Archie:

Coaching positions – apart from a part time position, we are all done, Tony Elshaug moves into the midfield role, SOS has the backs, Leigh Tudor will look after forwards, Andy Lovell will be at Sandy, Hutchy assumes the position of GM Football and a match day role and Drainy looks after List Management

Pretty much what you said sainter.

The part-time position being a new ruck coach.

The part-time position being a new ruck coach.

and I reckon Lyons will (hopefully) appoint a guy just out of the game and in the art of tap rucking.

I like Lyon's thinking on talls and the importance of ruck work - end of the day they can, through their craftmanship, set up the flow of the game from each centre bounce, stoppage and throw-in. (one of G.Thomas downfalls I reckon)

Interesting to see or set up a thread to see which recent retired ruckman we should get on board.

Are we talking about a player who jumped ship from teams just before they reached success, that started playing with us?

Pass...not sure what your inferring

He can come from anywhere.

I'm pretty sure Ice-Wolf is referring to one Peter "Spida" Everitt as he left us just before we became a good side and then co-incidentally did the same with Hawthorn.

Considering we got nothing (Barry Brooks) for him Spida would've come in very handy during 04 and 05, when our ruckman was either Ackland, Knobel or Blake who is 1cm taller than Lenny Hayes

Too bad for his personality clash with GT that lead to his departure.

I would love to see Spida back at the club and remember him specifically mentioning on The Footy Show he would return to the Saints one day as from being at Hawthorn he noticed a huge difference with former players. At Hawthorn former players would always be at training and the like where as at St.Kilda you wouldn't see or hear from them. Plus he was a very good tap ruckman :thumbsu:

Spida was the architect of his own fate, not Thomas.

Everitt would have to improve immensely as a human being before being considered as a ruck coach (and as such - a role model) for our next gen ruckmen.

No.

I remember this too, but also read/saw/heard that he is now interested in staying with the swans in a coaching role. So realistically its no go for Spida.

I couldn't really see him in a full-time coaching gig as i dont think he is interested enough, a bit like Fraser Gehrig, possibly a part-time role.
