why the sudden turn in public opinion here haha?
I'm all for it, but strange and seems out of nowhere?

if rocket stays (and I hope he does), there is no question at all that he needs a complete new set of assistants.

also if rocket stays we're essentially saying it's the list managers fault, in which case seeya boys.

Give him a 1 yr extension unless a Clarkson or someone that is an outstanding candidate isn't readily available.
Can't give him 1year. It will just create this UN stable environment again next year. Got to make a statement and give 2 years minimum to show support. No reason you can't still sack him next year if we flop again.

Yep He has been great for the club. And if it wasn't for him we wouldn't of landed Lyons,Witts and Barlow. All three players have gone on record saying if it wasn't for Rocket passionate pitch they would of gone elsewhere
Wasn't aware of this if that's the case I believe the benefit of the doubt should entitle rocket to a 2 year extension with support thrown in to bring in his desired assistants and throw the noose to ashcroft or Clayton as the scapegoat.

I am in the 'let Rocket go' camp atm.
Team not showing enough on-field, with the insipid periods in games a major concern (especially the insipid starts). Health this year has been pretty good.

If players loved Rocket so much they would have showed it with more consistent performances and even executing a recognisable game plan for everyone to see.

It's been said by others on this forum that apparently Rocket is lazy, which is not a trait you can project on to a group that need to get their hands dirty.

Can we really risk going through another year like this again?

I think player development has been consistently poor and I don't even know who our player development coaches are - Matty Lappin, Nick Malceski??

We've had 1 rising star nomination in the last 2 years (2MP) and we've had 7 x top 20 picks eligible in that time. With all those kids being rated before the draft that isn't a great conversion rate of getting the kids up and going in the AFL.

You could blame Clayton but it just seems across the board that without a clear game plan and these young players don't have a defined role, and it seems that they are left to their own devices to develop, as compared to Carlton where you can see their kids with clear roles to play.

Agree with this, which is why I am torn on the issue. On the one hand Rocket has done good for us and has done it while dealing with culture/injuries/players leaving etc, and I like the guy. But what we have served up for the majority of this year is just not good enough.

Too many times players have dropped their heads early on resulting in a 20-30 point loss turning into a 60+ point loss. Many players seem to be running around with little confidence which shows in the amount of skill errors we produce each week and have no idea what role they are meant to be playing which means we lose . Quarters or even halves of football where we dont seem bothered only to turn it on for a quarter then go back into our shells. An incredibly shaky and easy to score against defence still. No plan B and no way a countering a team who suffocates our run of half-back.

I'll back whatever decision Evans and the board comes to from the review, and one way or another change will come in the football department, but its going to be a tough call either way.

I'm still on the fence in relation to the coaching situation.
I do feel changes must be made.
If Clayton's job is solely as a recruiter then you can't argue too much with his selections. Most players selected at those picks have been about right according to the predicted draft positions by various draft guru's.

Not sure what ashcrofts job is exactly but all fingers point to him being at the core of any issues.
Also it's ridiculous that eade hasn't had his own assistants if this is true this must be addressed to ensure eade has no excuses if he is indeed to retain his position.

Either way as stated by other posters I'll be satisfied with whatever decision Evans concludes don't think our club could be in better hands except maybe Paul roos.

Have to disagree with you on this one

Absolutely.
He is not the man going forward.
At the start of the year the Club said no more excuses. The new training facilities etc. Even May said at the start of the year they had been using a different excuse every year and it had to stop in 2017.
Has anybody heard anything but excuses in Eades press conferences in 2017. I haven't.
It was crystal clear to me at half time Round 1.

Don't wait. Tee off now. I'm one that got sick of every post being a shot at rocket, but without them everyone has forgot where we are on the ladder. The game has passed rocket. He's done great things for us off field, but on field we are the same rabble we've been the whole time. I'm sure he's not the only reason but I'm done with him and he's excuses. I think we will win today and that will paper the cracks for another week.

Im on the fence...

I think Rocket should of been able to bring in some of his own coaches.
I do believe our top talent draftees dont come on anywhere as quick as other clubs.
KK was rated highly pick 2-5with his run poise and kick.
These days KK is worth a third round pick.
Where as other clubs get 3rd round picks playing like AFL legends.. sydney/ geel etc

Jack Martin.. has he seriously got any better since his first year in the AFL system?
Payed the world for him..

The other side says.. either way when we lose we shouldnt get done by 10 goals plus each time..

It's the way we lose which is a concern. Either give up huge starts to ordinary teams like Brisbane and Carlton at home as we weren't switched on, then dominate the last half or start ok then wilt without giving a yelp. Rocket has been great picking up the basket case Bluey left, but he was doomed over the whole China debacle. You could tell Coch was filthy with him, and embarrassed ourselves internationally.

100%. I'm patiently waiting for Mr Bods to go back to his old self and start pummeling Rocket, as he rightly deserves.
