Eade talking about the list
Not enough experienced players
But won't play experienced players currently on list.
Eade proud of of playing younger less experienced players
But now wants experience
Confusing
I guess under pressure coaches need distractions.

Solly is greatly respected by players and management, he is being chased as is Andy Lovell by another Melbourne club
But wasn't the scuttlebutt from David Parkin that none of them wanted to be here and they all wanted out?
If that's the case they should go

my understanding is no, they are not great fans of Rockets work ethic and three of the assistants that I know of have offers from other clubs, none of the existing assistants ATM have offers in front of them apparently the Rocket deal has to be decided before the assistants deals are offered or not

What a mess

Evans has some work to do eh
A lot of house cleaning to do

I think it very likely Ashcroft and Eade will not be At the GCS on 2018. It would seem logical that a few of the assistant coaches will also lose their positions.

Evans and Ashcroft have a strong bond but whether it is strong enough for Marcus to keep his job I just don't know. That will be a damn awkward convo if it happens though.

The Jury IS in for me
Having just watched the bump he did on Alan Richardson in round 8 1996 I 100% am committed to wanting Michael Voss to be our 2018 coach.
He knows what it takes to be based up here and lead a successful team and when he preaches hardness at the ball he is no hypocrite.
His first crack was a bit premature at coaching, I bet he has learnt a lot both through the experience and by reflection in the years since.

Yep l'm thinking Voss would be a good fit this time around.
Asked my man and he said he definitely has no idea on who they want.

AFL website survey on current coaches is interesting.
AFL don't normally produce surveys about coaches.
Apparently Worsfold most pleasing and Rocket the least pleasing.
Over 70% surveyed believe a head coach will be sacked before the season finishes.

It was apart of the Fan survey earlier in the year, i'm surprised it wasn't higher with the amount of people on facebook who want to bring back Mckenna.

So his ability to bump someone makes him a good coach? Theres plenty of great coaches out there that weren't tough nuts during their playing days. Some would say Rocket is one of the hardest, he's called Rocket for a reason. We've seen with Brendan Bolton you don't need to have played to have a great understanding of the modern game. Voss failed because he was behind some bad choices he may have learnt from these he may not. If Rocket was sacked someone like Stuart Dew would be a better fit as he's basically head coach of the Swans now a team with a great culture and lots of onfield success.

From what I have heard Voss was terrible at communicating and having a structured game plan when he was head coach. No thanks
agree, it was only 12 months ago the Port supporters wanted him gone and had been crying out for his sacking for some time.

Obviously some success in the W-L column on field muffles and quietens that down.

If we sack Rocket, you have to have some idea who we're going after...otherwise I'll be pi$$sed if management do that and have no plan.

Only 1 thing we can be certain of. If (when) we get a new senior coach the AFL will be all over it.

Just like they were with Fagan and Noble at the Lions and with Evans coming to us. I mean, they do basically own us since we are so far from breaking even it is not funny.

Based on Fagan, Noble and Evans, we should expect someone who has plenty of AFL experience.

A first timer would have to have completed the new level 4 course. Dew and Barker get talked about the most.

As for retreads, Brett Ratten would be worth interviewing. Did OK at Carlton and after getting the boot from them has been a senior assistant under Clarkson at the Haaaaawks.

Also...
A few of our assistants have been here for a while. Would actually be a good move for someone like Solomon to go to a new club as an assistant. The more varied your coaching experience the better.

Please don't sack Rocket before season ends. It's such a bad look.Nothing's going to change culturally with an 8 week caretaker.Let it run its course and if we are seriously looking at a new coach start doing it now- maybe with Rockets blessing and help. That would be so much more attractive to someone looking to come here.

I believe The Coch when he said Rocket will see out his contract. The only way he leaves would be if he was told he's not coaching next year and steps aside like he did in Sydney

All valid what u say. U r a Dew man and I'm Voss. That's fair enough.
I just want to see us be "hard at the ball" and am looking for the coach that can bring it into the culture.
At the moment we are far off having the grit that would make me proud and I think get the rest of the GC enthused enough to get behind the team and come to the games.

He's definitely seeing out his contact. This is a few weeks ago anyway I was told definitely no sacking it reflects poorly on the Club etc.
But pending availability of right candidate will not be head coach next year. If right person not available maximum extension will be 1 year.
