Thinking if we do get a new coach and it's not Clarkson or Roos then John Barker may be a good candidate

Previously worked under Ross Lyon, Clarkson, Ratten, Malthouse and Bolton so has paid his dues as far as knowing what an AFL club is about.

Has worked with Mark Evans at Hawthorn before (2009-2010, has played with and coached Luke Hodge if that means anything in terms of luring him up here as an assistant coach.

From outside looking in he appears to be a 'players' coach in the mold of Luke Beveridge, which is maybe what the club needs to galvanise and energise the playing group

I'll take Barker if he can bring Patrick Cripps with him.
Here's Cripps talking about Barker as a future head coach.
Start talking about barker at 5:05 from the Sunday run triple m Melbourne https://omny.fm/shows/the-rub/carltons-patrick-cripps

Tom Lynch comment :
Suns had proven their game plan worked, but they just weren't doing it for long enough.
What a load of rubbish. The Suns only have 1 game plan and doesn't work for many reasons.
Sure blame players for a lack of effort or poor skills but don't blame players for a dud game plan.

Tom Lynch comment :
All players were behind Eade. Really ??? Doesn't matter anyway he is gone.

Tom Lynch comment :
Only had themselves to blame for the 6-10 win-loss record.
Everyone is to blame from the Board down to the players.

Tom Lynch needs to act like a Captain and lead instead of being a sheep.

They will be behind Eade until he is shown the door
His quotes will be very different next year

They are so used to the Coach wheeling out the same rethorical BS every week they don't even know how to say what needs to be said.
Is it just me or does Lynch not really inspire as a natural Leader type?

What do you guys expect him to say?
'It's Eade's fault that we are 6-10, our game plan is horrendous' or 'Rocket is struggling and I don't feel he is best for the club'
Come on seriously,

Yep all that.

Sorry I'm trying to be funny out of pure frustration.
I'm just so frustrated with this Club. It just seems we are going no where and I'm pissed off about it because it should not be happening.

A true leader will tow the company line in the media and will wait until the club power brokers ask him what he really thinks behind closed doors when he will be free to speak his mind

Yeah for some reason I can't see anyone at the Suns allowing an interview like that to happen and be published.

'The teams f**ked, we've got no idea what we are doing, and that Rocket guy coaching us is a half-wit. But keep showing up to games and give us your money pls'.

There is absolutely nothing to gain by Lynchy coming out and tearing the crap out of the coach, gameplan, teammates, or whatever during the middle of the season. All that would achieve is giving journos even more ammunition to use against us. This is just a filler article that everyone will have forgotten about before our next match. It is meaningless other than to sell unity.

Also, I know everyone is in the 'the club is going nowhere, our list is a shambles, etc etc' phase. But looking at how Brisbane and Carlton and previously the bulldogs have been developing since they brought in new coaches does make me feel a little optimistic about next year and beyond getting a fresh/new coach in. They've had what? 10 rising star noms between them this year? And yes, they are both still below us on the ladder (which should be a given considering where they are in their rebuilds) but what a difference a fresh coach coming in who understands the direction football is going in and has a clear style of play they want to implement does for a young footballers confidence, especially when the coach backs you in and gives you an extended opportunity to get comfortable in a role you will be playing for the next 5+ years. And then look at the potential goldmine we are sitting on in terms of kids waiting in the wings to be moulded into the team and its not all doom and gloom. Just a little something to dream about to forget about our current predicament. :D

And for the love of god, please (even if it is just Rocket staying on) let them bring in their own group of coaches who gel together rather than being told this is what you've got, make it work.

He may have a crazy philosophy of dropping players who don't perform and follow instructions.
Crazy l know.
we've been down that route in the past though haven't we? both under bluey and early rocket days. need players capable of replacing them for it to work.

on another note, I'd say bluey was a players coach

If you look back at the dogs. At the end of 2014, after finishing near the bottom (not sure exact position) they sacked their coach, which many didn't expect and their captain walked out (Ryan Griffin). They were in shambles and the laughing stock of the Comp. 2015 comes along and with a new coach in Luke Beveridge, the dogs play finals and host a final after finishing 6, this final was their first since around 2011 when Eade was in charge (I think), they unfortunately lost to Adelaide and were eliminated. The next year was 2016, and the fairytale occurred, the dogs won the flag.

I'm not saying that this will happen to us. But the mix of a good list and a fresh start/new coach may lead the Suns to finals for the first ever in their history.

Just a bit of optimism

All I ask is they march Primus out the door, and he never EVER returns. The other assistants I know too little about what their like behind the scenes. But Primus is a spud of a coach. Doesn't belong in the box.
pretty sure your spot on with that
