If it's not his fault, why can't he get a 2-3 year contract then?
It is a results based job, and regardless of the injuries and off field stuff, the results haven't been there, and at times we are still getting towelled by 70+, which is still very worrying 7 years in.

Can you see the club extending Eade long term ? i hope your right , but i cant see it.
Maybe 2 years with a succession plan with Barker or Dew etc coming on board. Not interested in any retreads apart from Clarkson and maybe Ratten.
It would be hard to give him only a one year contract and attract good assistants for longer.

I would think if the club was to extend Rocket another 2-3 years , i think they would of done it by now and end the media speculation . They may surprise after the review and put something like this in place , but its a long shot.

Eade has to go. He's not the guy to take us forward. I love what he's done for us but I have huge reservations on his game plan even with most of our squad healthy.

The only guy in the Coaching ranks we need to keep is Solomon. If we lose him, arguably the highest rater assistant in the game, then it's a massive blow.

Hopefully Evans won't let that happen.

If there was another crew to be really scrutinised I would suggest it's this lot

ELITE PERFORMANCE TEAM

Justin Cordy - Elite Performance Manager

Zane Leonard - Strength & Speed Coach

Fergus O'Connor - Sport Scientist

Mia Dockrey - Sport Science Cadet

Josh Stein - Skill Monitoring

Corey Wedding - Skill Monitoring

Malin Weston - Skill Monitoring

Jessica Alder - Nutrition

To my eye sitting in row 2 our blokes constantly look thinner and less powerful, it's particularly noticeable when the ball is on the ground and you need someone to pick up the ball and clear it out and when we put on a tackle and the physically stronger opponent rides the tackle and successfully handpasses it to a teammate.

Don't know any of them, I know Cordy was meant to be a huge get for us.
We need to be a Gold Coast Club, so there are plenty of fantastic Sport Science professionals already here and being churned out by our Universities, so if we aren't already getting them from there well start doing so.

We now have a superb training facility so no more excuses about being weaklings, it sort of looks like at times an under 14s v an under 15s team.

Cordy was and IS a huge get for us. Our rate of soft tissue injuries have plummeted. Our injuries these days are mostly impact related, which is a Coaching problem. Not a performance problem. Sometimes of course it's just bad luck too.

Don't forget we only got that facility 4 or 5 months ago. Next preseason is vital to physical development.

It's also been reported the draftees in our history have struggled to put muscle mass on because of previous facilities and sweating out too much of their hard work.

A lot of people hit like on this post.

Do you people not agree with the sentiment of my post however that we look small and it comes out in the physical contests?

We've still had our fair share of soft tissue injuries this year. May (twice), Thompson (3 times), Ablett, Hall, Hanley, McKenzie, Ainsworth, Hallahan all have missed large amounts of games with soft tissue injuries.

I'd exclude Thompson from that list. He's made of tissue paper, and no expert can stop him from tripping over a blade of grass and doing his hammy.

They're still down on quantity and damage. We haven't had any bad ones, and it's still less then it used to be.

Every team is going to get soft tissue injuries. It's just how the game works. How bad they are though and how they're managed is what it's important. We've come a long way in that regard.

In terms of physical development, we were a very young side again last night.
TheScrim 18
Ainsworth 19
Joyce 19
Fiorini 19
Spencer 19
DMac 19
Ah Chee 19

The Tiges had only 2 players under 19.

We have also replaced 2 out of May, Rory and Leslie with Spencer and TheScrim. We should have looked smaller/skinnier last night.

But but but, I do agree that we have too many players that are not physical enough. That is partly physical but also about a thirst for the contest. Attitude goes a long way in the contest for the ball.

It's not Eades fault , he has had a tough run of it , but i'm at the stage where i can't see Evans giving him a 2-3 year extension . Only way Eade now survives is if Evans gives him a one year extension , can anyone see this happening ?
Think that is realistic given the Comm games disruption - quite possible we won't have a home game till mid May/June next year . Could be 0/8 by that time given our away game record. What new coach will take that possibility on. So Eade next year - with some new assistants - not venturing here into other admin /football issues

Like you might be right , but I would of thought if he was to be given the one year that would of done already so eade can see who to take into next year.

Had some info filter through this arvo from a local media friend.

Rocket will be gone at seasons end.

Solomon & Lovell are both said to be safe. Well respected by club & players.

Prescott in the cross hairs - could go either way.

Primus will be gone.

Ashcroft will be gone as Footy Manager. Unknown at this stage if he will be moved into a different role though or booted all together.

Graeme Wright is being chased as well as a mystery respected/experienced person who is currently employed at AFL headquarters as possible replacements for Ashcroft.

No info was provided on Clayton or senior coach candidates.

As always Corkie, a pleasure!

Glad to see Solomon and Lovell will survive.

Thanks Corkie! Listening to Evans last night on Fox Footy, he said that Clayton was one of the best in the business so you would assume he's safe.

If this is true i do feel for Rocket.
When he came up here the media were saying its a plum gig walk in and win a premiership.
Its been a hard fought slog.
Rocket has put in alot of time and effort behind the scenes to bring this club upto AFL standard.
Had rotten luck the first 2 years with injury.
2017 has been his first real crack at it. And yes it hasnt been pleasant to date. But im sure it could of been alot worse if Mckenna had stayed.
If Eade does go he has left the club with solid foundations.
God bless

Would love to see him stay on in another role behind the scenes and stick around. We definitely need a fresh direction in terms of gameplan etc. but losing a man of Rockets experience, knowledge and character from around the club will be bloody hard to replace, not to mention a potential repeat of the nightmare we saw with Mckenna if we fail to put in place experienced support around the new coach (assuming its a fresh candidate).

Should also throw in.. since Eades been with the club we have delisted or moved on more then half of the team.

Which isnt Eades fault at all.
He doesnt pick the draftees.
Premierships aint won with a new inexperienced team.

But onwards and upwards

A lot of speculation
Media doesn't know shite

Evans isn't going to criticise his own staff on TV that only fuels more speculation.

If he is only half way through his review. No one will know the results until the end of the year.

Mark Evans is under immense pressure to turn this club around.

Whatever the the results I'm confident Evans will make the correct decisions.

Bazza it's regulation in the AFL for all assistant coaches to know there fate for the following year and contract wise by 1/8 each year so they can plan for the following year if they are to be released. So the info on the assistants could be on the money potentially as I'd say they would know where they stand by now

I'll take it with a grain of salt, but would be very excited to hear this news.

Both solly and Lovell are good coaches and our players will require some sort of stability if everyone else is getting the chop.
Glad to see the other assistants go.

Maybe also consider Changes to our high performance team. Injuries just haven't improved enough.

I wouldn't say no to ashcroft hanging around in some type of role as he was vital to forming the club and has the q clash medal named after him. Would like to keep the respect their.

And in the interest of respect would like to see rocket stay on as head of footy or something. He deserves a chance at seeing what he started through if he wants it.
