Tough on Ashcroft
Kids and family well entrenched locally
His son wins everything in intersports
But he is responsible for the football department and the long and short of it is the football department has failed whether through bad luck or bad management
If Rocket goes he should too
Gary Pert has shown the way

or you can look at it by saying how many families lives is he affecting and holding back by not performing (Ashcroft)

You lot are going on like Eade is dead.
I think our problems are systemic and have developed dating back to our inaugural years.
Both McKenna and Eades coaching records are almost identical.
So what is the same during this period and what has resulted in underachievement ?
(Hint : how many assistant coaches and footy admin people have been there that whole time?)
Given Comm Games next year and the disruption caused we are on a hiding to nothing - Not being negative but next year will be hard.
So give Eade a one year extension with some new assistants and see what he can achieve ... in adversity .. seems to be his lot.
Not sure we'd find a good new generation coach willing to take on the job given the circumstances.

I'm up for an extra year from Rocket

I might be the only one , but i find it hard that the club will through a football department review , clear out some assissant coaches , do a clear out of the playing list to freshen things up and then turn around and say to Rocket we will give you one more year . Ive got nothing against Rocket , i like him , but where we are at , a below average team , we need a massive clear out.

Agree, I like Rocket. But if we are fully commiting to a freshen up that means him gone

Heard mumurs that Simon Lloyd (Matt Lloyd's brother and current assistant at Geelong) is a chance at the Suns coaching position. Reckon he'd be a good candidate, has coached at Hawthorn, Fremantle and Geelong, all whilst they were up high on the ladder

That's as low a profile as you can get - I wouldn't even know who he was if he walked into my office today

Yeah I saw people mentioning his name in the thread on the main board, predicting where each bloke would be next year (lever, ablett, etc) and it had who will coach suns and pies, couple people mentioned Lloyd for the Suns, and I was like who? Now know more about him and heard that he is a major candidate

Just googling Lloyd (cos Ive never heard of the bloke) and he does seem to have quite the CV.

Has had roles as high performance manager, development coach, assistant coach, director of coaching, and psychologist over the past 18 years. Also interesting that he has a Masters in Applied Psychology, apparently has a teaching background?? and has taken the level 4 coaching course. Dont actually know how well he has gone in these roles though, but doesn't seem like too bad a candidate.
