Have read a fair bit about it... I've tried it quite a few times and found it extremely difficult. I can take the temperature right down but really struggle with outright cold.

Has anybody tried it, and did you stick with it?

And does anybody know if the supposed benefits are real?

It's a technique for disrupting transmission from a CIA implanted probe.

I'll leave the specifics to people who actually know the specifics, but after exercising I will usually have 3 x 1 minute bursts of the shower at the coldest setting. From my personal experience I seem to feel better recovered the next day than on the times when I don't do the cold shower bursts. It could be completely placebo effect though so who knows.

Another potential theory here is that the times when I don't do it is usually when it's really cold and I'm standing in the shower thinking I just can't bring myself to do it. On those really cold nights them bones just feel a little bit older than normal so maybe that's the part of the difference in my recovery.

Who knows.

Heavenly-warm showers induce masturbatory activity. There's one reason why cold showers would help in reducing post-shower lethargy.

But it stands to reason anyway....if you spend time in a sauna/spa, you feel so drained. If you spend time in a warm shower you feel drained. If you're walking/standing about in warm to hot/humid weather, you feel drained, you slow down even in speech/thought.

If you get doused with a prison cold shower treatment, if you're caught in the wind and rain outside, if you have a nubile woman seducing your skin with a small block of ice, youre all agitated, energetic, and alive.

Considering 99% of my shower time is wanking I don't think this will suit me
Mind you, freezing cold showers would probably force more masturbation just to keep the schlong from shrinking all the way into your stomach.

I do cold showers because it's better for someone with really dry skin.

I find it best if you start at a temperature which is decent to get in, and then slowly turn it colder.

Back in my younger days (oh where did you go?) bowling 30 overs in a day we had a wheely bin filled with ice water - end of a session it was run off the field, strip, into the showers (cool), into the ice bucket for 2 min, then back to the showers (hot) and off to the physio table. No idea if it actually worked medically, but for me it got an extra spell in straight after breaks which meant I could fit in an extra 10 or so overs a day.

Away games I struggled if they batted past tea. I would 'skip' the post-tea slot to be fresh(er) to take the 2nd new ball, then bowl until stumps, but never felt I did so with as much energy as home games (with ice)

Once upon a time, I did the cold water bursts on really early mornings. 2 30 second bursts usually to help wake me up a bit. I could totally understand it helping people, but on cold winter mornings it would take balls to do it every day.

I couldn't really do a whole shower at absolute cold though, I have to use too many products and usually spend about 10-15 mins in there at least.

I did this while playing footy, we called it lactic warm downs. The idea (so i was told) was 30 seconds hot, 30 seconds cold (as hot as you could stand then as cold as it would go) and enhanced vasoconstriction/vasodialation (widening and shrinking the blood vessels) would help to get rid of lactic acid build up. I have no idea if the science we were being preached was correct or not but i swear by it now, after a run or workout i'll go 4 sets of alternating hot/cold for 30-40 seconds a pop. Always feel better the next day.

I did it today when I got home from my run -

I do enjoy them even though I can't ever last too long with them -

Also, I can't help but make weird noises everytime I do it...

You mean screams?

I finish my warm shower with about 30 seconds of cold water. Find it definitely wakes me up as usually the hot water overheats my body for a while after making me a bit lethargic. Have also noticed improvements in my skin as it is not so dry afterwards.
