Where do you sit regarding the summer camp fiasco? Are you happy with the outcome of the club and CM parting ways recently? Are you on the media's side, and hungry hungry hippo for more info? Or you're just indifferent, waiting patiently for 2019 to arrive?

Ok, let's settle this once and for all - with a poll!

Really really over this sh1t - hopefully we get a win on this weekend and we can actually focus on what we are here for

Clearly that program had run off the rails, so I'm happy we cut ties.

I think the club made more headaches for itself by holding a press conference about it, though. If you don't want to answer the questions then don't have a press conference, just put out a media statement.

Me too, I believe in Pyke's presser with Burton "we've tried something, which last year was working. This year not so much, so we've decided to part ways and we move on." I like this simple statement, brings less headaches and we can then focus on the part of getting the hammies right!

I'm sure John will cop some flack for starting a thread about this :) but I think it's a reasonable thing to do some summing up.

I know a lot of people think the club let this drag on too long, but I can understand if they were wanting to work through the issues internally and not give a running commentary in public. I don't think at any stage that the club was deliberately "covering up" although perhaps there was a bit of wishful thinking along the way, underestimating the media's "dog with a bone" tendencies.

I think it might have been better to acknowledge the issues early, along with a firm "but we're not going to give a public running commentary on matters relating to individual players" or somesuch.

When it did come to the crunch, however, I think the club fumbled it. I don't think a simple statement would have sufficed, the press conference was necessary as part of the hosing down process. But the presser itself was badly set up and handled.

As others have noted, the presser should have begun with a clear statement about parting ways with CM. Of course there are going to be followup questions, and again I don't think these were answered firmly or clearly enough.

- Yes, there were issues arising from the camp, and we have worked through these.
- We were not going to give a public commentary on those issues at that time, and we're not going to do it now, out of respect for the privacy of the players.
- There are no outstanding issues; everyone involved has dealt with these things and are on board going forward (or whatever, there would be better words than that)
- Some of / many of the stories in the media were wildly inaccurate
- Which ones were inaccurate? Well, sorry, but we're not going to play "tick the box" in some sort of process of elimination
- However, we can say that (insert a couple of specifics here). Beyond that we are not going to make any further comment - again, this is an internal matter between the club and the players.

Much of this is probably what the club THINK they said, but IMO they really didn't manage to do it clearly / firmly / professionally enough.

Anyway - the witchdoctors are gone, let's move on and hopefully fix what is probably the larger issue of our injury list.

Good to see Sam. Newman confirming reports of Jake lever issues pre grand final. Backs up Rowe on 5aa saying that he was the cause of arguments at half time. Which backs up my position that we should have told lever he signs a contract gf week or he doesn't play cos he will be a distraction. Came out later Tex didn't want him to play either.

the feeling I had since the game. damn, hate how the club allows issues surrounding out of contract players affect what happens on the field. believe same thing happened with tiprat, crows v sydney final at AO & dangerfield's circus-show exit derailed our finals campain. this time it probably cost us a premiership

Sorry what's a summary of what Sam said ?

That he heard from a very reliable source that the crows team were at the virgin airport ready to leave for the gf in their private area and everyone was together and lever was sitting on his own and you could tell there was tension then.
There are no facts in the reason he was sitting on his own. Possibly talking with Jess or BT. Not something one does "in group" is it.

Ps. I can't believe half of the voters think last Saturday's presser was a pass.

I must have been watching something else...

This sounds too kindergarten stuff. If the boys hate on Lever and choose to isolate him at the airport pre-Grand Final, then it's more a reflection of the team as a whole and not just on Lever. Somehow it sounds a bit far-fetched though.

I don't give a toss about the press conference. All I care about is that the club was doing something that was clearly having the opposite effect of what was intended and finally put a stop to it.

Just wondering who the players will next latch on to for their complete and utter inability to play focused Footy for 4 quarters.

Poll should be who they use as their next excuse.

Sick and tired of hearing about crap that happened prior to the start of the season--so they are gone and dusted now. That excuse is out of the way.

Better see one focused team ready to play against the Eagles.

Otherwise, in my opinion, it will be time to start weeding out some malcontents.

(and yes I am grouchy--getting up at 3am to watch crap footy is not enjoyable)

100% agree.

Think we will know come trade time - certain players will be put up for trade if they don’t move on.

From what I’ve been told, some of the stuff that was discussed in the CM could be classified as breach of privacy which was only known between club and player and yet was revealed in sessions with players as a group and CM.

It is now time for the players to put up or shut up.

If what you’ve been told is correct that’s pretty bad, you can understand the players being extremely pissed off. As for the staff member, Burton, who thought that was okay, how can he possibly stay on?

Surely makes Burton's position untenable as he would no longer have the trust of the players... & this includes a dud training program that has led to a hamstring epidemic.

If Burton remains, the problem remains & we will never be able to achieve our best.

If the firewalking happened now we would deny it, refuse to release the footage, Smart would be out with 'a virus', the media would smell a cover up and months later a few leaked details would start to emerge

Either way he is a distraction........particularly as a Victorian
