This was a hard voting week for the Collingwood MVP. Ben Johnson was terrific and really puts the spot in the back pocket for All-Australian. He has to contend with Matty Lappin, Aussie Jones and Rohan Smith along with other key position backman that may be slotted in there ie. Luke McPharlin. Paul Licuria was worthy of four votes because he found the ball while tagging or trying to tag Adam Simpson. Alan Didak has been criticised by Collingwood supporters throughout the year but showed how a small forward can turn a match without kicking goals. He got 21 touches and took 7 marks and kicked a goal, but he had a couple of valuable one percenters. Guy Richards has stepped up again by winning the ruck but his around the ground skill is supurb. Doesn't play as a lanky ruckman. 1 vote was really hard but Richard Cole sneaks in. He keeps proving me wrong with his disposal. His second efforts were once again great to see but he found the ball on 14 occasions and took 8 marks, and didn't drop any sitters. He switched between Daniel Wells and Daniel Motlop but showed that he can play defensive. Matthew Lokan was a chance because his tagging on Brent Harvey was terrific. Harvey had 10 touches coming of some good weeks of footy. James Clement, Ryan Lonie and Dane Swa provided good run from defence, Chris Tarrant kicked 3 goals and had 16 touches but i am still unhappy with his set shots and attitude. He did look good on the lead. Anthony Rocca had a good first half after rolling his ankle and managed 3 goals, Scott Burns and Josh Fraser were rested in the forward line at times and Tarkyn Lockyer was finding the ball and using it. Shane Woewodin was ok through the middle but Mark McGough still found 19 touches and 6 marks while spending an amount on the bench, he doesn't look injured but he looks unfit after 15 minutes of Football. Nick Maxwell does not look like a footballer, and that tool moment when he sidebumped himself to the ground reassured that. Leon Davis kept his spot over finding it when on. Jason Cloke wasn't on his game and Cam Cloke did well up forward and in the ruck. Also kicked his first goal in AFL football.
