  • COLLINGWOOD is hovering around Melbourne star Brad Green, with a decision on his future expected today.
The Magpies confirmed last night they were interested in the midfielder but the 27-year-old was yet to make a decision on whether he was leaving the Dees.
"I don't think he knows what he's doing yet," Collingwood football operations manager Geoff Walsh said. "He has to say, 'I want to leave and I'm interested in you'. If those things happen, well, then we would be willing to progress it."
Melbourne was confident on Monday that Green would agree to a three-year contract but he is considering his options.
Collingwood was keen on Sydney's Ryan O'Keefe but turned its attention to Green when Sydney told the Pies they would have to part with their first-round pick, No. 11.
Hawthorn, Sydney and Port Adelaide have also sounded out Green this week.

Think this is a good move if we can get him for a second or third round pick. Thorghts??

Would be a good get if we didnt have to use our 1st Rounder

Great Skills
Great Leadership

We lack both of those

Sidebottom
Green
Cousins

Not bad at all

I hate to put a dampener on your wish list but there is no chance the Demons will accept pick 29 for Green, and there is absolutley no chance Sidebottom will last until pick 11.

To get Green we would have to offer something like Rusling + pick 29 which i would accept.

No way would we offer our first rounder.

Rusling + Pick 29?? I'll say no to that as well.

Rus has great potential and this draft is meant to be pretty solid.

I am glad you are not part of our recruiting team :o

But there could be a spot for him at Freo:thumbsu:

Might beable to swap our 29 and Shaw for a upgrade maybe Ports pick 22 which i think would get the job done

Apparently they want to get rid of him because they want to free up money. This means theres a good chance he'll go cheap. A 2nd rounder should get the deal done. Hope we hold onto the pick however. If we're lucky we can work out a suitable player swap or an upgraded 3rd round pick.

I wouldn't mind this at all! We could go for David Zaharakis in case Steele is taken before 11.

We have to trust the recruiting staff here. They've been doing a good job.

If Hine is willing to part with our second rounder it more than likely means that the player he wants at this pick will be around in round 3.

They don't want to get rid of him at all, they just offered him a 3 year contract.

The only sensible suggestions so far.

To get Green, that is what we would have to offer.

This deal really depends on what happens with Warnock and what goes on from there.

Do the Dees pursue Seaby and a deal on Green helps them get him over the line. They have shown interest and are on the hunt for a ruckman.

A deal on Green may help them move around getting a ruckman into their footy club.

We can give them Bryan;)

oh cmon guys....you're all quick to baulk at a suggestion Rusling + 29.....but then you suggest Shaw + 2nd round draft swap.

Not going to happen.

Melbourne are not interested in Shaw who is the same age as Green nearly.

Whether we want him or not is one question...but Shaw + 29 is not giong to cut it unless we get really lucky.

According to Channel 10 he is going to Sydney.

Don't really understand our interest in Green. He's soft and he's late twenties. Sure, he's a good kick and could probably play in a few different positions, and if you could get him for stuff all, fair enough. But I wouldn't be parting with a second-rounder for him -- or anything of equivalent value.

Our rumoured interest in J Brown, ROK, and Green has puzzled me in each instance. None of them address pressing deficiencies in our list -- and IMO none of them would come so cheap that you'd be willing to overlook that fact.
