This talk that getting Rockliff in would mean we are too overpowered or stacked in the midfield seems a bit silly.

Have you seen our injury list each of the last 5 years?

The more quality players we can get, in any position, the better.

We can't really get any quality KPP's this trade period due to not having a first round pick, and the free agent pool is small (literally) so we get what we can this year, and then target KPP's in next years' trade and FA period.

I love our approach at the moment, it started at last year's trade/FA period with Howe, Treloar, Aish, Smith and Wills coming in.

If we do something similar this year, with Wells, WHE, Mayne and another (Rockliff or STewart) then we are back on track, all be it a year off the target of 2017 to challenge for a flag. 2018 is a realistic chance of being a top 4 team if we make the right moves.
"Wake him up !" Rockcliff in a black n whitegimp suit would make fantastic theatre. Play Pendles as a perm fwd where the play will mostly be .. Premiership flog has a nice ring to it ...

Rocky to collingwood probably will happen
Doubt crows will be able to pick up two a graders in Gibbs and rocky
Would add another layer to a gun midfield for us
Just need a bit of consistency in the forward line and sky is the limit next year

No. We don't need him. we've got a better version in Crocker. You're only wanting him for the sake of bringing in a player.
Yet you took Maggie5 to task for not wanting a guy that plays the exact same role as Lennon in Mayne?! What a class act you are...

B: Scharenberg - Brown - Howe
HB: Maynard - Reid - Adams
C: Wells - Rockliff - Sidebottom
HF: Mayne - White - Hoskin-Elliott
F: Elliott - Moore - Fasolo
R: Grundy - Pendlebury - Treloar
INT: Aish - DeGoey - Varcoe - Crisp

That's a cracking side.

Langdon, Broomhead, Greenwood, Ramsay, Blair, Crocker, Smith, Keefe, Thomas, Marsh, Sinclair, Wills and Phillips as depth.

Ive watched Rockliff closely for fantasy footy purposes and the guy is basically Swan without the burst of speed.

Just knows where to run to and racks up ball. Who do you tag in a midfield of Pendles, Treloar, Rockliff, Wells, Sidebottom and Adams rotating through?
We'll push for a flag with that side I'm not even joking about that. It's strong.

KB has been all over 'Rockliff to Pies' and was the first to say so. Good mates with Balme, who also happens to be on his show each Friday.
Well that seals it, there is no chance Rockcliff ends up at Collingwood!

We want Rockliff - he is tough and he kicks goals. Year 1 impact could be as good as Treloar. Possible trade:

Collingwood loses: Witts*, Frost, Oxley, 2016 second round, 2017 second round

Collingwood gains: Rockliff, 2016 Bris third round^, 2017 Bris third round

Brisbane loses: Rockliff, 2016 third round, 2017 third round

Brisbane gains: Frost, Oxley, GC 2016 second round, CFC 2016 and 2017 second rounds

*Gold Coast likely to get Witts although he could be traded to Brisbane in lieu of 1 second round pick
^Useful for Daicos/Brown points
You must really rate Rockcliff because that deal is huge for Brisbane.

Assuming Witts = 29, Frost = 49, Oxley = 45 (mid 3rd round pick), 2017 Bris 3rd = 45, 2017 Coll 2nd = 27 means the cost for Rockliff is a massive 2059 points. That many points is the equivalent of pick 4 +72.

To put that into perspective Treloar cost 2734 points (or pick 2 + 55)

Without the 2nd/3rd round pick swaps it's about pick 7, which while more fair is still more than I'd pay for someone who isn't a list need and is on the outer at their club.

How do we get the Rockliff deal done without compromising ourselves in next years exchange period/draft?
Really it's impossible to speculate on too much yet, however it's worth remembering that we'll likely have up to 3 second round picks to play with and Frost post the Witts deal. The hurdle is more Brisbane being open to the trade which we won't know for at least a further 48 hrs.

FWIW 2017 picks may hold the key. If we can trade two of our second rounders into a 1st roumd pick this year (say Bulldogs or Sydney) it opens up our ability to trade that 2027 1st round pick.

Swap De Goey for him.

Lets face it. De Goey isn't going to get any midfield time ahead of Pendlebury, Treloar, Sidebottom, Adams, Wells, Greenwood and Crisp. Even Wills got more time in midfield than De Goey.

I don't see the point in trying to convert a pure mid in De Goey in playing as a small forward.
