Is it just me or is Collingwoods inability to land anyone decent in the past 8 years in trading becoming increasingly frustrating??
Woowoedin can't be included, he fell into our laps through no effort of our own.

Too be fair James Clement has been fantastic along with Shane Wakelin, but the others have done little to bolster our ranks.

Captain Clanger has been great too winning two copelands and we can't forget about buckley, but that was 10 years ago.

Look at the players that are on our list now that have come from other clubs.

Brodie Holland: Back-pocket plumber at best. Always talked about in trade talks, but let's be serious, who would want a bloke more interested in how he looks rather than getting the sherrin.

Andrew Williams: Dud, i need say no more.

Stunning Steve: Tries hard, would be fantastic back in the O&M, but not a senior ruckmans shin guard.

Shane O'Bree: Like a piece of cheese, he has got more and more fungus on him with every year.

And then last year's debacle with the Stevens stuff-up!

Am I the only frustrated Pies supporter? It appears to be similar to our Pre-season comp mentality, it just doesn't seem important!!

Dude do you go to the Football? Brodie Holland has developed into an excellent run with player who gets a lot of the ball. As for the Stevens deal it's impossible to get a deal done with someone who is irrational. Choco's never gotten over Matthews giving him the flick. And why do we need a BIG name every trade period? Keep the picks, develop our OWN players and they'll tun into these BIG names everyone so desperately desires. Keep giving up early picks you end up with a Richmond, Hawthorn type list, no thanks!

It's quite obvious that sproulie has not a clue.

Brodie Holland would be in our top 10 current best players.

Holland = Gun.

Is this thread about who we can afford to offload or who is the biggest dud we've picked up from another club??

I have several clues actually and none of them lead me to believe that Holland is as good as you blokes would like to think.

The guy's more interested in modelling than he is footy. He has great goal sense and a knack for annoying the crap out of good footballers he is sent to play on. But that's it!

I'm not saying he is our worst player, there's a stack behind him, but he's not in our top ten.... no way!

there both connected.

obviously if we give up someone decent, you'd want to be getting something for them.

In the past we have got nothing for P Willliams or N Davis and i don't want to even think about the Michael/Molloy swap!

Would you like to share with us your top 10?

Brodie is in mine and i'm sure he is in alot of other peoples.

Nathan Buckley, Scott Burns, James Clement, Josh Fraser, Brodie Holland, Paul Licuria, Anthony Rocca, Shane Woewodin, Chris Tarrant, Shane Waklien.

Those in no order.

Who else is there? Lockyer hasn't exactly been at his best because of injurys. Presti was out for a fair while. I fail to see anyone else.

Brodie is still young too. He is versatile (although I don't really like him in the backline), can be defensive and attacking. Is the year 2003 erased from your memory? He was one of the main factors in turning our season around. He after 3 weeks out (2 weeks suspension and 1 week break) he returned in the prelim to be best on ground. Taggers who can be damaging don't grow on tree.

Btw out of that list I think Presti.

Very easy to say now.

Paul Williams was playing terrible football at Collingwood. His mate Tony Shaw had gone and footy wasn't 'fun' anymore. That was code for I don't want to play disiplined football under Malthouse. By trading Williams we got Clement and Holland. Both have been great and very good players respectively for our club. This is the classic win-win trade.

With the Nick Davis one we got dudded, no doubt. We could have played harder and not traded, alla Nick Stevens, but we honoured Nick's wishes. With hindsight we would not have let him go for a second round pick.

I didn't hear anyone complain about the Michael/Molloy trade until 2 years after when Brisbane beat us by 9 points in a Grand Final. Michael was obviously the younger player but Molloy gave us a couple of very good years service to get us off the bottom, and remember we were sitting 15th after 2000 when we made the Williams and Michael trades, 2 years later we were playing in a Grand Final.

That guy who prob win the copeland this year, you know, short redhead, sprints like a demon out of the backline, gets forward and kicks freakish goals here and there....you know the one

Who was the idiot who voted for Tarrant? Why so many votes for Woewodin? He gets under a lot of packs. Someone has to give it to Bucks.

Woey is actually underated my most the magpie fans. Probably more so cause of the enjoyment of hating him when he was a demon. He was one of our most consistant players this year among only a few. Sitting in the stands you could see Woey's workrate was higher than a lot of his team-mates. As for even thinking of getting rid of Taz is a joke. Every other club would love him in their forward line. One of the hardest players to match up on in the league. Full-Forwards don't have to always kick a bag of goals. Taz probably has more assists than any other magpie and does a lot of 1 percenters like blocks etc for his other forwards.
;)

I rate Benji Johnson, infact, he is one of my favourites at Collingwood but i cannot see how half a year of solid football would get him into our top 10.

I don't care how many times Benji has ran off the half backline and linked up. He has pretty ordinary disposal by foot and i have never seen him get a hard ball.

Brodie Holland > Benji Johnson.

It depends what we get for these playes I'd trade TAZ for players like L.Ball (can't be done i know) D.Kerr, D.Wells if we trade Taz it would have to b for a pretty darn good and quick Onballer.

I guess we will see friday night!!

Don't be surprised it Johnno takes home the copeland trophy, only clement could beat him!

You may have to refigure your top 10 unless you want to leave out the club's best and fairest!!!

any team that publicly declares it cannot carry two rocca's - both of whom have actually made a contribution to the afl during their time, yet then turns around and recruits THREE clokes - the oldest of whom has a shelf life of maybe 2 years, cameron who has been promising but will be found out eventually at this level, and travis with the most hope of the lot

Holland isn't in our top 10. Hell I'm not certain he's in our starting 18. Just in the midfield he has Buckley, Burns and Licuria clearly - and I mean very clearly - ahead of him. After that Woewodin and Johnson are arguably better/more consistent. That makes Holland our 6th best midfielder at best. Depending where they play Didak, Lonie and Cole could pass him next year.

Holland can play but he's no star. Johnson isn't either yet but he has improved consistently from the time he was drafted and has passed Holland even though he is younger.

Still waiting for the end of this statement, surely it is going to enlighten us all when it comes.

dont bad mouth holland every team needs a little bastard tagger and if we get rid of holland it has to be licuria again which weakens our midfield. and there is nothin more stupid then tradin Taz he is a star and is still young. out of all the players u could trade why would u pick Taz. CAn ANYONE tell me if we r even after brent harvey plz coz all this talk bout him is getting my hopes up he would make a huge difference.
